The Holocaust: The great taboo.

Sure you can, I've been doing it for months. :) Maybe what you meant to say is, you can't win an argument when you're wrong. I think you're finding that out.

Nope. What I meant to say, and in fact already did say, it that it's futile arguing with you because every time anyone says anything that you don't agree with, you accuse thm of illogic, invoking a strawman, or both.

That's because those are the transgressions most likely to compel me to disagree with someone. It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether they agree with my position or not. If you disagree with me and your reasoning is valid, I'll have nothing to respond with. That hasn't been the case on this subject yet, not from anyone here at least.

It's tiresome.

It is. So stop being illogical, and I'll have no cause to disagree with you. ;)

I think my speech has been plain enough for educated people. Maybe you've been conversing with dullards too long, and your linguistic muscles have atrophied?

I'll bang both your heads together in a minute!

Lets keep a perspective on the discussion at hand. Reviewing the anomilies of the offical stance on the holocaust and debunking the theories that stand against it with facts.

Instead of bitch slapping eachother in the playground lets get this back on track!

Always fun when the uneducated school drop-out Menty takes the hard-line stance with the intelligent folk and pushes them back into line ;)

With this, I agree unequivocally. I just find it amusing that you've got the dynamics of it turned completely ass-backward.

Parroting the ideas of others is ordinarily not good practice for a writer, but in this case, it almost worked for you.

Are you coming on to us, Menty?

I agree.

But the bitch-slapping is so much fun! :who?me?:

Okay, TQ first. Simply because I don't have the time to go through all these threads and try to sort out the red herrings, strawmen, theories, and alleged "facts."

I'll offer this much to start: I am in 100% agreement with TQ that Holocaust deniers should not be prosecuted or persecuted for speaking their beliefs.

Common ground is good.

I also respect TQ's wit, and his writing (especially the stuff he emailed me a while back), his participation in the Writer's Group, and the board in General. I like him, and if ever in his area (or he in mine) would love to hang out with him.

Aw, shucks. ;)

And I'll make one other claim. TQ has claimed that he's read more on this subject (Holocaust denial) than anyone ese here. Perhap this is true. But I make a similar claim: I have read more and done more hands-on research into paranormal/conspiracy subculture, belief systems, brainwashing and cult sociology, recruiting techniques, and subculture mentality than anyone here. I have a very firm grasp on how pseudo-logic can feed the need to believe, how belief systems (including conspiracy beliefs, TQ) can be viral, how double-talk (and strawmen) can be used effectively, and how subculture folklore and mythology can insidiously replace historical fact.

See, this is the part that gets me about your stance on this, Sardy -- have you applied that same experience and knowledge to the pro- side as well as to the anti- side? I may not have your years of experience in these things, but it seems to me that both supporters and skeptics on the holocaust subject, as well as their theories and evidences, ought to be put to the same tests, and that simply isn't done.
