The WF SECRET Personal Information thread...

Yep. Elwood claims to be a cop. And he certainly knows a lot of things a cop would know. But there are ways of explaining that.

And there have been slips and inconsistencies in the story over time--things that just don't add up; things he's said in drunk threads; just reading between the lines--that lend some credibility to some of the claims.

Is Elwood really a cop? All we have is his word that he is. And all we have that he isn't is the word of someone who says he told them he isn't. So it boils down to Elwood's word either way. I've drawn my own conclusions and I've explained my reasoning for them to some here. They have tended to agree with my conclusions. And everything I've seen in the year plus since I made those conclusions has only reinforced them.

I'll leave it at that for now.

I would tend to believe him at this point. Because he does know quite a bit about the profession and some of the pitfalls of the profession as well.

Overall I do like Elwood. But, I question some of the "secrecy" and cloak and dagger bullshit that has taken place. Especially with the recent sale of Wordforge to Lanzman.

Hood is unbanned apparently folks.

YEP, BREAKING NEWS - LANZ JUST POSTED A RESPONSE, AND THIS IS THE RELEVANT A SNIP OF IT:

And then Tamar drills it. The shit that's gone down the last couple weeks is exactly the kind of stupidity that drove many of us away from TrekBBS. I look back and I can substitute "Lisa" for "Lanzman" in a bunch of posts and damned if they don't look awfully familiar.

So fuck this noise. All is forgiven. Anyone who wants back can come back, with the exceptions of Borgs and Ted. Our minimal ruleset over here, and the good judgement of the staff, and the unchanging character of some of our characters is all I need to go by. Seyla.

I don't know if that will appease anyone here, or what percentage are cool with it...or how many folks who left are still interested in keeping Wordforge going.

So do most of you find this acceptable? Or is that not enough? Does it even matter to anyone anymore, or are pretty much happy just staying here? (Me, I am likely gonna keep posting in both places for now, I like *some *of the people here.)

I am only asking, because if a majority has really, honestly and completely - even after this - still decided to wash their hands of the Forge, then I can stop wasting time and space here fretting about what comes next.

So, what say you all?

I doubt it will be good enough for some. Teh Drama is too good to stop.

Here's the deal... I'm glad Hood can come back. I'm happy that Lanz lifted the ban. I also don't want to just abandon TK after their hospitality towards us. I like this board. I also want to thank MM for all of her hospitality, she has been very instrumental in our success. I feel like we owe TK a shot. It's growing on me, and if MM can get us some of our familiar smilies I'll be even happier still.

Maybe. Likely. Because of love of teh drama, and outright ego. It will be interesting to see who comes back and who doesn't. (I have some guesses on whom exactly won't return - at least won't return just yet...)

But while it's maybe not 100% perfect to everyone, I think it was a reasonable concession that Lanz offered, and most people here, I think (I hope) are pretty reasonable.

AI mean, at least it's a start, right?

And if there are any more demands people...er...demand must be met before they return, I think that's more than I want to fret about, so I'd just say "fuck it" and stop caring.

It will be interesting to see if, after all of this, Hood himself actually wants to rejoin Wordforge now - it would be kinda funny if, after all of this, he decided that he really didn't care too rejoin us after all. *rotfll*

This has been a very positive first step.

However as has been said before, Hood was just a catalyst. How are we to know that the mentality that led to the ban, and the response, has actually changed. Right now it just seems like TPTB realized they fucked up and are throwing us a bone to get us back. What's to stop this from happening again in six months? 12?

Personally I'm waiting for substantive changes before I go running home to mama. In the short term I'd like to see some sort of coalition government, with the likes of Evenflow, Tex, RJHJ, Pylades and/or other 'rebels' brought into the inner circle. I personally think Evenflow should be made PM (policy chief). This coalition government could then work on a long term solution such as Mod rotations, etc.

That's just my thoughts, everyone else is free to do what they like.

Oh and don't worry, TKs been good to us. Expect a good chunk to stick around.

I'm glad that Hood is no longer banned, but unless there are major staff changes over there, I'm done with WF. I'm tired of the us vs. them mentality that the staff have.

Well, that's cool and I can totally respect that. It will kinda suck not having you around there, because you were one of the, IMHO, better posters. (I should havve said that, now some people will be want to find reasons to dislike you, just because I said that I liked you. Sorry. *lol*)

But yeah, I can understand your decision.

And I too will be hanging around here more often as well now, I think. At least, if the people here are still as cool tomorrow as most of them have been to me here today.

And I dunno how to tell if Lanz has really changed and seen the light, but in his post he seemed to admit and acknowledge that he had indeed started to make decisions that were all to reminiscent of the kind of admin attitudes that drove people to places like WF and TK in the first place.

I suppose he could just be yanking our chains, and in the future he will go all fascist on us again - but I think I will give him the benefit of the doubt this one time now. In good faith, since I have no real reason myslef to think that he is lying, I will assume innocent until prove otherwise. And we will never really know for sure unless some of us return to there.

And if you does go all Stalin on us again, we can always just leave again.

But that being said, it does seem like it would be pretty shitty to just invade the place evertime we have a crises, then just drop it again when the all clear is sounded - especially when most people here have been pretty cool to us. It would be nice if we maybe stayed around and contributed to the board and didn't just use it like a cheap hooker.

So see ya around.

Nice, but not completely satisfied.

So what about Ted and Borgs?

I know they aren't popular but if Lanzman wants to make a grand gesture, he'd should unban them too... assuming they even want to come back.

If Ted goes back to his creepy stalker act then of course they can ban him again.

Beats me, I dunno what goes on in Lanz' mind, nor do I even know those banned ex-posters complete backstories. Or Polarslam's either.

If I had to guess - based on what little bits I have heard briefly mentioned or refered to - that the reason is most likey a combination of (probably repeated) Very Bad Things(c) that they had done, and the fact that way too many users say that they would be really, really uncomfortable if they were allowed back.

But I could be mistaken. My information is really incomplete.

Right now I guess this is just a first emergency step, to stop to board from hemoraging members.

But I think if people really want to change things on Wordforge (assuming they even give a crap about the board anymore) then hanging out here isn't gonna really change things over there. Every single ex member who didn't come back, and why they didn't come back, isn't likely gonna be constantly fretted over by the Powers-That-Be. So if not returning is supposed to be some sort of protest - as opposed to not returning because you really just don't care about the place anymore - then it's a pretty inneffective form for protest. The only way to really change the way the board is mannaged is to get back there and get involved. If you feel, you know, that it's worth that.
