Things you love about Star Trek

In the unlikely event that they make another Star Trek movie with Christopher Pine as Captain Kirk, they need to find an actor named William Shafter to play Captain Christopher Pike.

And have a CGI LT Arex to replace the late Anton Yelchin's Checkov.

Actually, now that I think about it, they'd need to find an actor named James P. Kierke to play Pike.

I started to say "goddamn, no way he's that old" and then remembered he was the Scorpio Killer in the original Dirty Harry movie.

In 1971.

When I was a little kid.

So yeah... he's that old.

Remember the beginning of TWoK, where Spock asks Kirk for a course and Kirk punts to Spock, who tells Sulu he may "indulge" himself and Sulu smiles while everyone else rolls their eyes because they know this means he's going to be fiddling around with Uranus?

I remember a video which tracked how many torpedos Voyager ever used, turned out the answer was: a lot more than they supposedly had.
I've been watching a bunch of vids like that lately, by TrekCulture and other guys... it's been a real rabbit hole.

Also I've been those vids by JOLLY about British highschoolers trying American foods for the first time. I'm not sure why... it just makes me hungry for fast food...

I love how Ron Moore tried to use BSG as a critique of this on VOY and wound up realizing you can only take it so far. They tried to have the ship be more damaged after each episode but it's more like all of the sudden it goes from mostly pristine to heavily damaged (although I guess the New Caprica rescue could explain that), or how alcohol is scarce at the beginning but by the end it seems like everyone's always drinking. Or uniforms. How do they replace flight suits when they train new pilots? For all the wear and tear and the limited number of uniforms that must be available, everyone looks fairly dapper right up to the end.
