Thought of the evening: Women in the workplace

It's masterpiece theatre!

While returning home this fine evening, I thought to myself in the car after some blather I heard in the radio:

"What a minute? Woman and Leftards whine about how women make a consistent 10% or so (Semantics for the thread question) less money than men. Aren't men oglibed to fork over more socially to women?"

Are you telling me that I'm going to be splitting a dinner bill with a girl I'm out with, or letting her pay for it? Or in the event of a longer relationship, perhaps she should purchase the first gift, or an unequal amount of gifts, or more of them? Commie, please.

I think you get my drift.

You know, as long as people are bitching about women making 10% less than men in the same positions, other people should be made to feel no guilt whatsoever for bitching that men are expected to fork over every dime of that 10% (at minimum) in order to pursue a relationship with a woman.

Equality means equal opportunity to bitch about shit that pisses us off.

Hah! This guy I worked with, who for some reason thought he was my boss because he was a man, had a fit when he found out how much I made, which was more than he made. He cry babied, "but, I have child support to pay, and a girlfriend, plus I have to live too. I should be making more than you." I said, "tough shit."

If the guy is hauling out stinky garbage along with everything else the job requires that the female counterpart is doing but she isn't hauling out the stinky garbage, then, yeah, he deserves extra. Otherwise, equal pay for equal work.

People, regardless of genitalia, should have the opportunity to work a job if they can do that job. Getting a job simply because the boss needs to fill a government quota for women or whatever and then not being able to meet the demands of that job is nothing more than denying someone more qualified that particular job. The word for that if theft.

What does what a woman earns have to do with what a man is obligated to spend on her socially. Women naturally cost more to maintain BECAUSE of men.

There is a point to be made there though. In terms of the inequality between the sexes, all the devaluations of women are on the decline, while relatively few attempts have been made to rectify the devaluations of men. Chivalry and conscription are still part of our society and acceptable, while calling all women "dumb bitches" is not.

The gap is decreasing in one direction but not so much in the other.

Unless I'm mistaken... Chivalry as most people percieve it, consists of good manners and respect.... how can that be a devaluation or anyone? Name calling is rude. And what do these have to do with unequal social obligations?

It's not devaluation at all. Rather, it is placing a greater value on women than on men. When announcing death tolls on TV, why always go out of the way to specify how many were women and children? Why aren't women part of the draft? Why aren't women expected to hold the door open for men? Why are women almost universally favored in custody battles? Some of these are trivial and some are not so much.

The disparity between the sexes was never a unidirectional "men are greater than women". The opposite was also true in a few respects. And those respects have not disappeared to the extent that the others have.

I hadn't noticed this, except in cases of military action and/or terrorist action. In which case, it's political spin. "Look at the helpless innocents" type of thing.

Why aren't women part of the draft?

Survival of the species.

Why aren't women expected to hold the door open for men?
I go in and out of 30-50 businesses a day. Typically if a male reaches the door first, he will hold it open and stand back for me to pass about 10 % of the time. If a male is coming out of the door as I am going in, he will hold the door open for me about 50% of the time. I have seen more men rush to the door to be in line ahead of others than I have women.

Small children do better with a nurturing parent. Women nurture, men discipline.

The thought of custody battles make me sick. In most cases, they arent really about the best interest of the kids, but rather trying to hurt the ex-spouse one more time. And that goes for both genders.

But men and women are different creatures. And you still havent addressed unequal social/financial obligations.

Could this be the reason why children grow up to be little bitches and bastages? No father = no discipline. EH!

Jesus, the corn chip from Coppell actually said something that makes sense.

Someone mark this day on a calendar or something, this is an event that should be taken note of.

See, this is what I think Kazbot's driving at -- when there's a disparity that women are okay with but men aren't, the above is brought out. Vice versa, though, and it never sees the light of day.

And what about these unequal social obligations? I'm calling you guys on this one, I swear....

Can I hit women like I hit men? Anything less would be sexist, of course.

You can try.... but then you'd probably better not turn your back and close both eyes to go to sleep.
