Tiger Woods returning to competitive golf...

Zozo Championship to finish Monday due to rain
Rain that washed out play Friday and postponed the second round to Saturday caused officials to push back tee times three hours. They are now scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. local time (8:30 p.m. ET Friday) through 11:30 a.m. Tiger Woods and Gary Woodland are tied for the lead after opening the tournament with scores of 64.

Tiger Woods has 3-shot lead in Zozo; play halted in final round
Woods was leading by 5 just a few minutes earlier, but Matsuyama put a bit more drama into the remaining holes of the Zozo Championship, the first PGA Tour event ever to be played in Japan. Tiger needs just seven more holes to match one of the PGA Tour's most esteemed records.

Tiger Woods has converted a 54-hole lead 54 out of 58 times on the PGA Tour, including 43 of 45 times when he was the outright leader. The only times he has failed to follow through with a victory was at the 1996 Quad Cities Open and the 2009 PGA Championship. He has never blown a 54-hole lead of more than 2 strokes.

Inside look at every one of Tiger Woods' 82 PGA Tour victories
What a journey. From a 20-year-old, newly established professional to a worldwide sports icon, Tiger Woods has mesmerized the golf world on his way to tying the PGA Tour record of 82 career victories, set by the legendary Sam Snead. The past 13 months have produced some amazing moments for Woods, now 43, as he won the Tour Championship last year for his first victory in five years, captured the Masters in April for his 15th major title and now has matched Snead in, of all places, Japan.

Tiger Woods goes 3-0 as captain at Presidents Cup

Tiger Woods did his best to lead by example at the Presidents Cup, winning all of his matches and capping his playing week with a singles victory over Abraham Ances. Woods, 43, never trailed in the match at Royal Melbourne, building a 3-up lead through 15 holes and then closing it out with a 20-footer for birdie at the 16th hole to dispatch the rookie from the International team who came in 3-0-1 during the competition. As the ball approached the hole, Woods took off his cap and made his way to congratulate Ancer.

The overall match was anything but finished. Woods' win brought the Americans within 10-9, with 15.5 points needed for victory. The United States has lost the competition just once in 12 previous events, at Royal Melbourne in 1998, when Woods was just 21 and Jack Nicklaus was the captain. For the week, Woods went 3-0, winning a four-ball and foursomes match on Thursday and Friday. After sitting out Saturday's double session, he came back with the singles win, and now he is 7-2 in that format.

Final notes
If you include the Zozo Championship he won in October, that is 18 official PGA Tour events. That doesn't include the Olympics, and if Woods makes it to Tokyo, expect there to be some juggling to bring the total down by an event or two. All of this, of course, is subject to health and fitness.
As for the fall of 2020, after the PGA Tour season has concluded, there is the potential for the Ryder Cup (Woods is currently fourth in the U.S. standings with a very limited number of events counting), a possible title defense in Japan, with some sort of made-for-TV event added in again, and the Hero World Challenge.
