Time passes

When I graduated from college in the mid 70's I sold everything I owned and got buzzed on Schlitz Malt Liquor with some friends and threw a dart at a map of the US whatever it hit was where I was going. I was aiming for Portland OR, but of course being drunk I hit Albuquerque. So off I went. My first night in Albuquerque was spent in the honeymoon suite at the Motel 6 on San Mateo Blvd, where I looked at myself in the mirror on the ceiling while watching Beneath The Planet Of The Apes on this grainy 13 inch TV. Albuquerque is the armpit of the southwest and I had friends in Santa Fe anyway so they enticed me to come north as they had an apartment and a job. Lived out there five years and met my wife out there.

Baked the pies last night - apple, pumpkin, and cherry. Will save the pecan for another time. Baked the cream cheese stuffed braided bread, chocolate/caramel cookies, and the sweet potatoes to use today. Made the fudge without nuts.

The dinner rolls are rising now and should be ready to go in the oven around 12:30 to be ready to eat by 1.

About to start the crunch.
1st - mix up the cornbread/sweet corn casserole and get it in the oven as it takes almost 2 hours to bake.
2nd - finish prepping the hazelnut roast en croute and get it ready to go in the oven - it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to bake.
3rd - brown the veggie crumbles, sautee the onions in olive oil and maple syrup, peel and nuke the eggplant, then mix all that up with parmesan cheese and top with some bread crumbs - that will need to go in the oven for about an hour.
4th - peel and mash the sweet potatoes then mix that up with the rest of the ingredients, top with crushed ginger snaps, and get that in the oven for about 1/2 an hour.
5th - prep the fruit salad and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour.
6th - prep the stuffing
7th - make the tea
8th - make the gravy
9th - put the dinner rolls in the oven
10th - set the table
11th - take a nap
12th - open presents
13th - clean up kitchen and dining room
14th - clean up living room
15th - take a nap
16th - go to the movies

Put the tree up, decorated the house, wrapped the presents and put them under the tree, and dug out the Christmas music last night.

I'm ready for this first Christmas in the new house.

Oh no. I don't have asparagus. Will have to make Brussel sprouts instead. Oh well. I'm done with the store and I'm not going back to a store until sometime next week after the craziness is over.
