To merge or not to merge?

Not merging now just makes it harder/more time consuming to prune it later. And that will eventually happen. To me, if the Badlands is to be the place for floods as missmanners is quoted to say, it's six of one, half-dozen of the other.
 
My thoughts on this Badlands stuff, since I am kinda annoyed:

I don't like rules that much, and I downright loathe restrictions. I have no problem whatsoever with the flooding or spamming. Not only because I really can't muster enough mental energy to form an opinion of any kind about it, but basically because the Badlands have been flooded/spammed longer than I am even registered at TK. It is not my place to change old habits or impose rules round here. Also, I don't think it is necessary.

Be that as it may... I have been granted those shiny options to merge threads and move posts, and since I love priviledges as much as the next primate, I intend to use them, when the flooding gets too much or just too dumb. I will merge when I feel like it, and when I have the time to do so. I reserve the right to maintain the freedom of deciding when that is. This means that sometimes, the floods will stay for more than one or *gasp* two days, unless another mod or an admin feels like cleaning up, which is cool, of course. But please, please.... if you do so, take your time and watch what threads you are actually merging, ok? (I know this sounds bitchy and condescending, but it is not meant that way).

I like the Badlands, and I want it to be more than just a spam dump. I am doing my part to make it more by posting some actual conversation here and there. Some of these conversations and what has evolved from them I do care about, so I am quite... irritated.... to come to TK and find that yet another admin/mod has fiddled with the buttons and (mistakenly or not) merged the wrong threads, as has happened repeatedly over the last 2 days.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy the antics of teh Cow. They have been funny, reversible, and add to the "specialness" of the Badlands. I have no idea if some of the mergings of the last days have been deliberate or not. If they were: not that funny, and very difficult to reverse. We've "lost" some really cool threads due to that, and while it might be possible to rebuild them, it shows quite some lack of respect that actually legitimizes the call to leave the Badlands the fuck alone that has originally been made in jest.

Oh and since I am on a roll: Contrary to what I stated in several threads, I will not move posts from threads without consent of the poster (as much as I would like to fuck with certain ones, and I don't mean the orgasm-inducing kind of fuck here), nor will I merge threads to get even with the thread starter or just because I can.

What I think happened was that it wouldn't merge the threads I wanted to, so I deselected them all and selected some random pages. I kept getting the same error with those, but I guess some of them did merge.

I actually wasn't trying to fuck anything over.
 
Flooding should be allowed, but it should be solely down to the first mod or admin who comes across it, as to whether it should be merged.

To clarify. People can get tossed in Daycare for flooding and crap-spamming the top forums (yes that includes Troll Playground). The Badlands was set up specifically to handle flooding and crap-spamming so people could get their post counts up quickly. No one will get tossed into DC for spamming and flooding here.

If someone wants to merge flood threads and crap-spam thats fine, if no wants to clean it up, thats fine too because it will eventually sink when the regular threads are posted in again.

For you regular Badlands posters, this is where you chose to set up camp. If you want to live in the city dump, then you need to expect the dozers will come through once in a while. In the past we've done merges, pruning and archiving for server issues. And we may have to do it again. (As far as that goes TK may vanish tomorrow and EVERYTHING wil be gone.) You need to be aware that anything and everything you post here may be deleted, merged, moved, whatever at any time.

Personally, I think doing it for "fun" or personal dislike/revenge reflects on the maturity level, trolling abilities and general intelligence of the mod/admin with his/her finger on the button. But then everyone here, including me has given into that temptation... sometimes more than once. The real trick is knowing when to stop. I think it's time for major, large scale, screwing around with the board and posters to stop.

Well except for the missmanners tag. :devil: And a few assorted small abuses.

I feel my merging skills were excellent. 2-3 spam threads ongoing, and any old thread I knew,or thought was dead was merged. Except everytime I thought it was a dead thread someone would go hunting for it, and be all like, "where's my thread you fucker??!?"

Point is, can't win for losing if you're a badland mod.

LEAVE THE THREADS ALONE!!!
 
Is SpamCapital II supposed to be a thread of spam that will later get dumped/deleted? Oh, well, who put my sex thread in there? Hmph, that's all right. I stopped posting in it mostly and started new threads and/or posted new stories in random threads for a while, but it looks like all those stories outside the larger sex thread have been deleted.

Funny, and while I was at the clinic today they were playing The NeverEnding Story and this is just like the Nothing.
