USA should annex Mexico

It's interesting how people on both sides are so quick to label someone who doesn't agree with them with the label of the opposite side.

I don't know. Living near the border already sucks because it gives our gov't free reign to pay slave wages to ANYONE because they can. And instead of raising pay with the cost of living, they are LOWERING pay in many places and still raising cost of living. I don't think I could handle annexing Mexico. Sure they would probably spread out to the rest of the country eventually, but for at least the first decade, the west would be overrun. Arizona is already having water issues/shortages with just it's US citizens in our cities. We couldn't handle the mass crowds of Mexicans coming through any faster...

Actually, I'm more of a centrist. However, I find the Democrats more often than not use the argument not to do a thing because of far reaching implications. Example: the Democratic view of abortion and the death penalty: we must be allowed to abort all babies because some pregnancies are the result of incest and rape or will in some other way affect a person negatively for the rest of their lives; however, we may not put to death murderers, rapists, and other grown people who commit heinous attrocities on other human beings. The Republican view of abortion and the death penalty: we must limit abortion to certain circumstances, such as rape, incest, and fatal to the mother, but maintain the right to kill that life if when the child grows up she/he is a murderer, rapist, or commits some other heinous attrocity against another human being.

However, this is about the illegal Mexican problem. Democrats want to use American paid tax dollars to support them, Republicans want to use them for cheap labor. Seeing how Mexico has assets, it seems appropriate to me to use their assets to support them. Maybe we don't annex the country but hire a management company to take over their government. Somehow, it has to be more reason for them to stay in Mexico than to come here to pick strawberries and mow lawns as their big "opportunity."

It isn't the government that is paying them slave wages but private sector employers and individuals hiring them for domestic service. It is true that we are having a hard time dealing with the massive influx of illegal Mexicans. What bothers me the most is the unfair treatment illegals are receiving in this country. A citizen, born and raised here, worked here all their lives, can have a health problem and no insurance. Their ability to pay, or their inability to pay, directly affects whether they receive medical services and at what price. They have to be indigent, and have been indigent for quite a while, to receive a government handout and/or to receive care on a sliding fee scale. On the other hand, an illegal Mexican will receive free medical care period. It is one thing to be charitable. That is a good thing. But, we need to take care of our own too.

The proposals set forth by the House of Representatives almost 2 years ago, would have taken care of many of our border problems if only the Senate had signed on. Now, the Senate is dragging its collective feet in the hopes of not having to make harsh decisions for the good of the people who elected them. Must be an election year.

We as a country should hold our representatives's feet to the fire and demand more stringent border control.

Hitting employers of illegal immigrants in the wallet is a good idea. The whole idea of hiring cheap labor is the bottom line. Make the fines and penalties stiff enough and illegal cheap labor won't be cheap anymore. Of course, all of us will make up the difference for the increase in labor costs by paying higher prices for groceries and goods. In order to enforce the non-employment of illegals, it is going to take a much larger law enforcement force to keep an eye on what employers are doing. That means agents getting in or over privately held land to see just who is working the fields, investigating, removing illegals if necessary. Means broader powers for the government. Think that will fly considering the current paranoia in the country?

Hell no.

Mexico is filled with drug lords, thugs, and lawlessness. Money buys you anything there (illegally). Poverty is sky-high, bandits are all over the desert, and the water is bad.

Mexico needs to get it's shit together and actually get a working (functional) government that will actually HELP with the economy. It's not like they can't, they are just too lazy to. Why? Because it's much easier to just cross the border to the US. Post National Guards along the border with GUNS, build the longest wall ever, mine the freaking area, actually treat illegal immigration for what it really is-a CRIME, do some serious deporting, and you'll solve many problem in the US right there. And send them illegals back with their Mexican Flags while we're at it. It's where their loyalty lies anyway.

For Mexico to get better, they need a freakin' civil war. To get rid of the drug lords, and all the B.S. that has been plaguing that nation for so many decades.

Did a search for "Immigration" & "Raid". Some interesting results.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-07-29-raid-kids_x.htm?csp=34
is a story about how 30 children were left stranded in daycare and school after Immigration Officials arrested illegal workers in a poultry plant. The local police department complains that the Immigration people didn't consult with them because they could have done something about the stranded kids that had been living there and going to public schools for years. So, the local police knew about their illegal worker population but didn't do anything about it for years.
