Philadelphia Stars, Birmingham Stallions earn berth in July 2 USFL title game with victories in Canton doubleheader semifinals
In the original USFL of the 1980s, the Philadelphia Stars were clearly the league’s elite franchise, appearing in all three title games, winning twice (the second as the Baltimore Stars). - Quarterback J’Mar Smith threw for 190 yards and a touchdown and ran for 48 and the final TD of Saturday’s nightcap as Birmingham advanced to next week’s championship match against the Stars.
