Costello is best known for breaking the SEC single-game passing yards record in his conference debut when he put up 623 yards through the air on the LSU defense. He finished out his lone season at Mississippi State with a 64.1% completion percentage, six touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

USFL Awards 2022: New Jersey Generals Mike Riley is Coach of the Year
Riley, a former Alabama defensive back who went on to a long coaching career that included head positions in college (Oregon State, Nebraska), the Canadian Football League (Winnipeg) and the NFL (Chargers), took to the USFL with an infectious enthusiasm that carried over to his team.
USFL Awards 2022: New Jersey Generals WR Kavontae Turin named is MVP
Turpin led the league in receiving yards (540) and Yards After Catch (316). He accomplished this despite being targeted only 53 times, well behind league-leader Lance Lenoir of Michigan (88 targets). He also led the USFL in punt return average (15.3) and was the only player to score a touchdown on a kick return this season, dashing 71 yards for a score against Michigan in Week 9.

In the original USFL of the 1980s, the Philadelphia Stars were clearly the league’s elite franchise, appearing in all three title games, winning twice (the second as the Baltimore Stars). - Quarterback J’Mar Smith threw for 190 yards and a touchdown and ran for 48 and the final TD of Saturday’s nightcap as Birmingham advanced to next week’s championship match against the Stars.
