No, that was nerddom gone amok. There was nothing broken to "fix" about this place. Whatever clods were behind the DLA/VKD gang just imposed their arid selves on the forums, and it tipped things in a dull direction.

They did not directly drive anyone away from here. The fact that the bulk of the conversations here now revolve around sophomoric games of 'who is whose dual', and listless bull-elephant pronouncements from the nerd herd, makes this place a lot less valuable and worthwhile than in the past.

There are always other places to post...and if there's one thing this board never nurtured or even professed to care about, it's loyalty. Oh well..

No, that was the server change. Files got corrupted or something, I would think they just need to be re-submitted by each person.

There is nothing to deal with TK will be what the members make it. Boards get into trouble when owners/staff try to force the direction a board will go and force members to fit it.

This place has always gone through phases of.... well.... it's gone the whole range from odd to moronic. You know how people are always saying "Dont feed the trolls"? That holds true for what happens here too. Do any of you really think this DLA thing would have gone on this long if every single one of the established members would have totally ignored them? Not responded in one of the threads.... not started a thread about how lame it was... not done anything with karma... just ignored it.

I'm not saying its easy to totally ignore.... but then once I set my mind to something....I succeed.

So.... is everyone having turkey Thursday?

Well, we can't all be as cool as you, m'lady. Unfortunately, people are people, and not always inclined to be in 24/7 troll-coolness mode when posting. Sometimes they just want to post whatever's on their mind, or react to what they read. It's called being human.

This (allegedly) hands-off "whatever we make of is it what we make of it" apparoach is a good idea in theory, but it's going to produce results like this just as much as it might catch lightning in a bottle...

I'm afraid that might not work out this time, MM. I hope it does, honestly, I do, but you are bleeding members, and the general mood here is really not good. I'm a non-entity here, always have been, so I can play around, joke and stir up the pot with the occasional dual, but the heavy-hitters are gone already. Why did they leave? You and I both know why. I had my fun with it, I know you did too. But I have to agree with my friends, we ARE waiting for something, and whatever it is, the ones with the power have to do it, not the posters. I can't have the type of drop-down argument with you tonight like we used to at EFCL, because my heart really isn't in it this time. You have to do whatever you think you need to do.

I totally agree.... and I'm sure not saying that no one should not say whats on their mind about anyone or anything here (can you tell I'm working too many hours again? That sentence doesnt make sense...)

As much as I dont want to see anyone go because they just dont think it's fun anymore, trying to keep it the same board it was 6 months ago (or 4 years ago or last week or whatever) is either going to result in that inbred feel that lack of new members brings or a wasteland where everyone has gone in search of a place more fun. Anytime you bring in new people to a board this size, it will change the dynamics of the community. And everyone (and his 50 duals) is welcome here. I think the most we can hope for is everyone finds a niche somewhere. If we need to tweak some no spam zones or move or rename forums to take care of that, then lets do it.
