So. Funny story. I was briefly a mod at WF on two occasions. The first time was during the Third Age of Wordforge. Astonishingly, Tasvir's been doing the same schtick for going on 20 years and the staff was discussing how to deal with it. Warnings had no effect and in those days they were loathe to permaban anyone. But we still had functioning rep. And Tasvir was very sensitive to his rep status. So every time he'd drop the N-bomb I'd dump a day's worth of negreps into his posts. It actually worked. But Elwood's position was that mods didn't engage in Rep War. I argued that I was using a board tool--one anyone could use--to moderate behavior. He disagreed. I said I wasn't going to stop. I quit or was fired, depending on who you asked. Luckily, as I said, not being a mod didn't prevent me from negrepping misbehaving posters so the campaign continued. Of course negrep has been done away with because apparently software designers decided it was "too mean."
Point taken. This is why the internet feels so empty now. Bots everywhere. Do you want me to never come back again @Seph?You'll be in daycare or gone if i have to wipe your ass one more time.

@Seph , is there a way to permanently delete my account and all my posts?
Fair enough. But I will say I did not notice that the "EAT SHIT AND DIE" rep had any kind of weight. In Olden Dayes you had a big bar of rep under your avatar. Bright shining green for posrep and red for neg. Kinda like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Without that, the effect of reps is somewhat lost to the casual user. You can still neg on xenforo software
Can I ask an admin to delete everything though? It's not a perk that is granted to anyone who has been a member here.
OR! You could just be a man and stop being a boring 1 dimensional douche and contribute to the board. Can I ask an admin to delete everything though?

Contribute what exactly? Diatribes like yours? Go fuck yourself with your idiocy. I am more interesting than anyone else ever will be.OR! You could just be a man and stop being a boring 1 dimensional douche and contribute to the board.
Just sayin'. You wouldn't even have to apologize. Just stop sucking and being boring.
On paper, it shouldn't matter what race/sex a character is. In practice, outside of instances like Samuel L. Nick Fury, I agree, it has to make narrative sense.OH! But more on topic: I realized the other thing The Other Place drives me batty about: They'll say things that would make for an interesting discussion. But you realize you'll immediately go into the Idiocracy Pardox if you try to engage. Fantastic Four. Chick Silver Surfer. "Big deal. Make the character female. It makes no difference. What's the problem? Unless you hate women. Do you hate women?" Bitch, please. Flip the coin. If it makes no difference, why not cast a male Silver Surfer?
Here's the thing about storytelling: Don't create things in your story that you have to stop and explain. Black Little Mermaid. Chick Silver Surfer. Unless it is important to the story. Obviously, Fantastic Four isn't out for another month and a half plus, so maybe (I doubt it but maybe) there's a reason for the story that Silver Surfer is a chick. But the point is, other dya I was at the supermarket. And the floral section had balloons for sale. Captain America was white. Little Mermaid was the 1989 cartoon version. How do you explain to your kid why Cap/Little Mermaid looks different--when there's no reason to force your customer into that situation?
Why do a female Silver Surfer? What does it bring to the story? The totally ignorant viewer doesn't care one way or another if the Silver Surfer is a boy or a girl, because they've never heard of the Silver Surfer. The casual consumer may have noticed T-shirts in Wal*Mart or Target with the Silver Surfer. Or seen a comic or two. Or the...2007(?) movie. And wonder why the Silver Surfer is a chick. The die hard Fantastic Four fans (is that even a thing?) are going to wonder why they chose an obscure version of the Silver Surfer over the mainstream one.
In short, there's a million reasons to use a dude Silver Surfer and I don't know the reason to use a chick one. And the fact that Disney did last minute reshoots involving the character make me think this is an unforced error for them as well.
All this would add to an interesting and possibly enlightening discussion at The Other Place, except I realize if I post it there, my response will be "BRAWNDO HAS WHAT PLANTS CRAVE!" "WATER, LIKE FROM THE TOILET?!" So I just have to walk away. "There has been too much violence, too much pain. None here are without sin, but I have an honorable compromise. Just walk away. Leave the pump, the oil, the gasoline, and the whole compound, and I spare your lives. Just walk away. I will give you safe passage in the wasteland. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer. You have one full day to decide."

If weare still talking about Fantastic Four I think I saw they were gonna have a big opening weekend? So the Surfer being a Surfette really doesn't bother non-comics readers, unlike us. Only movie I am prebooking this summer is Jurassic World. I have no interest in watching OLD Susan Richards. On paper, it shouldn't matter what race/sex a character is. In practice, outside of instances like Samuel L. Nick Fury, I agree, it has to make narrative sense.
But for the most part, I don't really give a fuck and for the most part, people bitch for the sake of bitching. And by that, I mean they bitch with their wallet, so there's that.
