What Are You Playing on a Non-Nintendo Console And/Or PC at the moment?

I know Half Life is treasured by a lot of people but it's never appealed to me. It feels lonely and dead.

Right now I'm not playing anything except games on my ipad, which are Solar Flux (using gravity to restart dying stars, I reckon Arthur C Clarke would've loved it) and Limbo, which is a spooky black and white platformer.

HL2 is fun, but it really is the equivalent of an overengineered modern pop song or big-budget summer action flick. It's pretty cool, but you can really tell that it's been extensively revised following the results of tens of thousands of test runs indicating that such and such an arrangement of corridors led to the player taking the wrong turn and getting mad 78% of the time. It's probably the strongest game that's ever been designed by committee.

That city where you blow up all the zombies with the explosive barrels and then meet the crazy Russian priest is pretty cool, though.

Got two Gundam games imported for my PS3, so I'm going to be playing those for a while. Was able to pick up Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record UC 0081 and Mobile Suit Gundam UC. If I'm able to find more imports that work on my PS3 at a reasonable price, I'm definitely going to pick them up.

Also bouncing between South Park: The Stick of Truth, Lightning Returns, and Gran Turismo 6

Like the original post said, I'm a Wii owner with GTA5 envy - I can't have that game on my platform. It's not that I want to go around killing people and shtupping prosties in the driver's seat, but I like that kind of environment -- a whole natural-feeling city/region to play around in. Games like Crazy Taxi come to mind to0; I have that for Gamecube. Games not made for kids, and without Mario & Co in them -- I have plenty of those.

I'm using the other thread for Wiigame suggestions, and this one for recommendations if I was going to buy anotehr console.

I'm at a loss then. PS3 and 360 both have strengths in the GTA-type games. Saint's Row, the various Arkham games, and of course GTA5. I've been a 360 owner for over four years, and only a PS3 owner for roughly six months. I've found advantages to both systems really. The most recent advantage I've found for the PS3 is that their games are not region-locked. Which means that if a game comes out in Japan and doesn't come out here in the States, you can find a copy of the Japanese released game and pop it into your PS3 with no problem. You cannot do that with the 360.

Best recommendation I can make is, try to find the best deal you can. The one with the biggest HDD, the best game bundle, the best price, then go with that. Because the type of game you're looking for is pretty saturated on both systems.

Get a 360. The PS3 has weird performance issues on the kinds of games you're looking for, and the 360 versions perform better.

The games you want:
Skyrim
Arkham City
Fallout 3/New Vegas

Now that I think about it, the sausagey one is right. The load times on the PS3 are a bit annoying compared to the 360 version. I've had some load lag issues while playing South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Pro-fighting-gamer ChrisG used to complain that the reason he would lose in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is due to the load-lag that the PS3 had compared to the 360. Now that the EVO tournament in Las Vegas has switched to 360s for their games, he'll no longer have that excuse if he doesn't win.

How to enjoy your new PS3:

Buy PlayStation Plus

Play free games every month

Laugh
While PlayStation Plus has more games, XBOX Live Gold has been running their "Games with Gold" for a few months now. On the 1st and 16th of every month, they release a new game you can DL for free. I've done this with a couple games now. The prominent ones they've released so far are Halo 3 and Gears of War

I'm not enough of a gamer to care about what's happening twice a month. I usually buy a game about 2-5 years after it's released, lol.

Got the BlazBlue Chronophantasma Limited Edition. I think this'll probably be the last game I get for a while. Starting to get to be an obsession...

Anyhow, having a blast with this new entry to the BlazBlue franchise. Finally Kokonoe is a playable character. The new entrants are interesting as well. Loving going through this... not loving the online ranked matches though... smegging Japanese...

Played my first League of Legends match in months the other night... it did not go well... not because I didn't know what I was doing, but we were completely outmatched. Too much CC and poke.
