Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

Gah. I hate when you decide you need something you last used a few months ago and it is just *gone*. And then you go "I wonder if I put it with [X]" and you realize [X] is also missing." Then you start wondering "did I have a fit and throw it away?" But on the bright side you find some other thing you were looking for a year ago that you gave up looking for because you decided you were crazy and that it never actually existed.

I also found the printer ink that I thought I'd bought but couldn't find. So I put it with the printer ink I bought because I couldn't find the other stuff.

Touchpad is back up. Wasn't drinking last night but I stayed up playing Sudoku to the point where I couldn't think clearly, but the gist was that there was the little "update" icon in the toolbar; possibly also a popup message to the effect that Dell needed to update firmware drivers, so I said "Hmm...that sounds relevant" and let it "update and shutdown". It updated forever. Restarted multiple times before finally shutting down. Way past when I wanted to be asleep but I couldn't resist firing back up (especially given how fast the boot is these days--gripe about W10/11, they do boot fast) and the pointer is back. So I'm back to using the touchscreen/touchpad combination, even though I've accepted a mouse works better. Partly because I don't have an extra mouse laying around and partly because this way feels more futuristic.

Unsettling thought of the day: With very few exceptions, at some point, someone is going to have to deal with your body.

I hate when things are harder than they need to be--especially when they're usually easy. Running to the other house. Tire pressure light comes on. I figure it's just because I haven't added air in awhile but do a quick walk-around when I get there anyway. Back passenger side is almost flat. So I pump it up and pretty easily find a sheet metal screw fairly close to the sidewall. Great. That's almost certainly not patchable. So I cut my time at the house short to allow for a run to my tire place. Tell them everything: "There's a sheet metal screw in the rear passenger side tire, a little to the left of the 'G' in 'Goodyear', on the inside. It's close enough to the sidewall that I think I'll be buying a new tire." So I hand over my keys and sit around for 15 minutes or so to be told everything that I literally just told them--and that they don't have that tire at the store so I have to come back tomorrow. Now, I know they don't carry that tire, but in the past they've always been able to get it within a half hour or so. I wasted 20 minutes (because it was another 5 to get the keys back). :/

Trying to marshall the energy for the next act of the day and I saw this. It made me chuckle:

Remember when Wendy's used to have those tables that had ancient newspaper ads on them, like this?

I was having lunch with a friend of mine back in the 80s and we were reading the ads, and one of them was for a bunghole borer. We could not stop laughing.

"BUNGHOLE! I NEED TP! TP FOR MY BUNGHOLE!"
