Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

For some reason it thinks I want pictures of naked women.
 
When I was working for the Marines out in Hawaii, they sent me to Korea for one of the big annual exercises. Before I could go I had to take a bunch of orientation courses. One of them was on human trafficking. I'm thinking "Jesus, do I really need to sit on the computer for 2 hours and do a quiz to know I'm not supposed to kidnap women and sell them into sex slavery?" Then I got there and picked up a copy of "Stars & Stripes" and the front page story was on some Australians(?) who'd been caught kidnapping women and selling them into sex slavery.
 
Made a turkey for Thanksgiving. When I was preparing it and pulling the neck and organs out of the chest cavity (I suspect the neighborhood fox will be happy for them) I apparently missed the heart and cooked it along with the bird. Briefly considered eating it but since The Dog was there begging, I offered it to her. She took a few tentative sniffs at it, turned up her nose and walked off. Coming back from this morning's walk, she found a small dirt-encrusted skull of some creature that had been buried in the ground, happily picked it up and carried it off to a comfortable spot to lay down and eat it and I'm like "Really?!" She did decide the heart was acceptable when she came to beg while I was preparing lunch, though.
 
There is too much porn on the Internet. Just now I was trying to find out if Tom Green's character in "Charlie's Angels," calling Drew Barrymore's character "starfish" was an anal sex reference, but ever search I do just leads me to "Charlie's Angels" parody anal porn. :(

[EDIT:]Huh. According to UrbanDictionary, apparently "starfish" can also mean a girl who just lays there during sex. :/
 
Apparently "PeopleOfWalMart" only does updates from around June to August each year now. I guess it is better than TheAgonyBooth or JumpTheShark or any of a number of other classic sites but still...

My aunt in Ohio died last November and sadly her son and husband pre-deceased her. And there were no siblings so long story short I ended up as trustee/executor of her estate. Her house went on the market today!!! 🎉👏. A year seemed so long to deal with it (and all the “stuff” inside) but emptying a house across the country and getting it ready for sale was challenging at best. And in between my husband’s best friend and mom passed away so we were a little busy with other priorities. But it’s listed!! I’m so happy. 🙂.
 
My aftershave of choice in the 90s was Joop! . After Sears went TU I could never find it. Today I'm walking The Dog and what do I see laying by the roadside? A gift box for Joop!. I had no idea it was even a thing still. I may have to see if I can find it. (I settled for Old Spice after I wasn't able to get Joop! and now that I can't get Old Spice I settle for Brut or whatever old school alcohol based aftershave the store has.

Sorry for all the losses, but on the bright side it significantly cuts down the effort spent on the Christmas card list!

It’s true!! Sad but true! Christmas, TG, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day…

My mom is still alive and independent and I have some other aunts and uncles on the East Coast but assuming I outlive them, I’m going to be next in line in the next decade or so. A little disconcerting but yeah, family parties/events are shrinking.

If my kids start having children that’s really going to fuck things up. :hah:

I don't mind the idea of my kids having kids and becoming a grandad, but I'm from a very small family and i like the idea of having a little one i can treat and get all hyperactive, then give back to their parents.
 
I feel like bookends are a dying product. It isn't like they wear out and you need to buy new ones. On top of that, anyone who reads has so many books that the shelves are packed so they don't need bookends, and anyone who doesn't read doesn't have any books--so they don't need bookends.
 
Walking by the abandoned Wal*Mart the other day I got the idea, if I had Oprah bucks or Elon Musk bucks, I'd buy a struggling shopping mall with at least 2 stories and convert the upper level to apartments or condos.

This is already a model I've seen with malls, where they turn upper floors into professional spaces, just take it to the next level and add residential too. Electrical is already there, maybe you need to beef up the plumbing a bit but probably not a lot. You've already got a food court and movie theater--maybe even a bar or nice restaurant or two--add in a bank, dental, a clinic, optometrist, supermarket, post office, maybe a government center with police and fire, maybe a hotel. Daycare, maybe a school. Not only do you help solve the housing crisis and come up with a use for all the dead and dying malls, but it creates a--I hesitate to use the word because it sounds predatory when really it's symbiotic--a captive shopping base to help keep the shops on the main floor open. Shit, this is such a good idea I may try to pitch it to Elon Musk. Hell, not only is it win win, it feels like it should be a scalable moneymaker.
