I was going to recap anyway, and I couldn't resist using that as a segue.

Let me explain: ...

No. There is too much. Let me sum up:

About a year ago, CheekyMonkey joined WF. Because she's a cute, flirty girl, all the guys flirted with her. And she flirted back, sometimes in PMs. Elwood, for whatever reason, decided she was only flirting with him. Then, when he found out this wasn't the case, he PMed everyone she was flirting with, warning them that she was "another PBM". CheekyMonkey started a RL relationship with GoldenEye.

Then, about a month ago, apparently Storm's trolling managed to rile CheekyMonkey up to the point where she started flinging poop at anyone who was close to Elwood. This had the rest of us scratching our heads--except for Vandy, who'd claimed that CheekyMonkey was stalking her (don't ask--that's a whole 'nother thread). Vandy was all like "I tol' you so! I tol' you that bitch was crazy. But oh no, you di'in't believe me." (Whoops I'm rambling.)

Anyway, it all came to a head when Elwood apparently left for awhile and upon his departure, CheekyMonkey made a long post in the Blue Room (posted elswhere on this board) about an online relationship she'd been having with a guy who'd been pretending to be a cop. This post was immediately deleted and CheekyMonkey was banned "to prevent her from revealing private information". And GoldenEye was also banned, apparently because CheekyMonkey might have him reveal further private information about Elwood. :huh:

Everyone went apeshit about this and the Moderator reply was " :shrug: It's out our hands. Elwood left instructions. He'll make a ruling on the matter whenever he gets back." Well, not entirely. Listkeeper's reply was "Shut up plebes. If anyone complains about this, I'm going to ban Miniborg." : huh: :huh:

Now, some background: We have a cute, smart, flirty 17-year old girl on Wordforge (TKO), who's pushing 18 and there has been some fairly creepy flirting going on with her--stuff like Storm asking her to post pictures of her asshole. Anyway, TKO's been around for about a year too, and when she started there, she vowed that she would never negrep anyone. Well I noticed that she'd been negrepping quite a few people lately (including me), so I decided to lighten the mood by poking a little fun at her. I started a thread titled "The Deflowering of TKO"--with the punchline being that it was about her loss of innocence about negreps. Well, it blew up horribly. She completely freaked out about it, negrepped me and demanded in the thread that the name of the thread be changed. I happened to be out so I didn't reply to her. So Neroo--er, Listkeeper changed the title of the thread and everything from the GoldenEye banning came to an ugly head. There were torches and everything.

Eventually, that got sort of smoothed over--I don't even think Listkeeper had been shitcanned yet at that point--but by then TrollKingdom had gotten wind of the whole drama. A couple of us (including me) had come over here because we were getting pretty fed up with things over there. And Tyrant created a dual here called "Disgruntled Wordforger" who claimed to be a member of the Inner Circle at WF. Pretty much anyone with half a brain realized he was a troll. Except for the aforementioned Inner Circle. :shrug:

So at this point Gul, MarkB, me, and a couple others, were actively bitching both here and at WF about the whole sorry mess. We managed to get Listkeeper fired and that was about it. Problem contained.

Except that in his parting comment in the HelpDesk thread, Gul made a throwaway line about how he couldn't wonder if the response would be the same he were ever threatened at WF. Cue Storm. :r etard:

Storm decided that at this point the best thing he could do for Elwood would be to PM a bunch of the Moderators that he was going to use private information to ruin Gul's life for making Elwood look bad. He also "accidentally" PM'ed this to Gul. Then for several days he made a series of veiled threats to Gul in the HelpDesk thread. While the Mods did nothing.

Finally this all came out. Elwood decided to do an Investigation and started reading the PMs of Storm, Listkeeper, and Gul. (Oh, at this point he also announced that both CheekyMonkey and GoldenEye would be permabanned for as long as he owned the board. :bergman: ) Finally, there nothing else he could do. He either had to unban GoldenEye (and probably CheekyMonkey) or ban Storm. So he banned Storm. But he also banned Gul. :huh: : huh: :huh:

So at this point, Crosis came forward and raised the bullshit flag--and was banned. And Faisent was Stripped of his Privileges for betraying Elwood in some vaguely defined way (and not mentioned by name).

Next Elwood announced that Tamar was his Second in Command and was All Powerful in his absence (except in situations like the one mentioned at the start of this thread :huh:: huh::huh:: huh: ). Ten hours later Tamar resigned. And Chris received his Scarlet Letter for betraying Nick and Tamar, who'd been plotting to take over the board from Elwood--oh, did I mention that at this point pretty much everyone on staff had been lying to us for the past month?

So now here we all are. Storm--who made real and tangible threats to Gul has been let into the board (apparently without so much as a "friendly" for the threats) and any day now Gul will be let back into the board. A day after Gul is let back in, Crosis will be let back in. Hopefully, this bizarre and completely unjust line of reasoning will completely distract the Masses from the root issue that CheekyMonkey's threat was a lot less serious than Storms and GoldenEye did NOTHING at all to merit his permaban. :huh: X infinity

Also, any hope of reasoning with anyone on staff is pretty much fucked at this point. :(

Oh, and immediately upon being let back in from his weeklong vacation, Storm drew two more warnings. :bergman:

To sum up: Presently the staff is completely out of touch and out of control and the only punishable Sin is to make Elwood look bad.

The place is basically somewhere between TBBS and the '72 Nixon Administration as far as crookedness.
 
Fuck, I never actually knew about the CheekyMonkey debacle. The shitstorm implies that Elwood isn't a real cop? Surely that's not the case.

Horseshit. She first negged Zodiac, so I got all of you beat.

As for the rest, it's not a bad yarn. I wonder how quickly Shakes, for instance, would go from hero to zero after hurting Elwood's feelings.

Painting everyone "on staff" as the same person with the same views is no better than someone on staff labeling everyone who disagrees with a policy "a troll". It's tiresome from both sides.
 
I'm sure by now you realize you're a minority on the staff, Mrs. A, and that it's probably bothersome for everyone to put "Except Mrs. A" anytime they finger the staff.

I'm really not a minority if what you're talking about is blind loyalty to Elwood and involvement in drama threads.

These people are all mods and they are all fair and unbiased, IMO. The problem is thinking that you can take complaints to any member of the staff and that that mod will have ANY ABILITY to do anything about it. Seriously, I move BR threads and hand out warnings to people being a prick/whorebagel in there. It has nothing to do with your problems with the way the site is being run. Would you really want a staff where everyone's opinions on policy mattered equally? We'd never get anything done. There has to be one person who can make the final call.

I'm sorry some of you feel like Elwood being in that position makes the board not worth your time. I personally don't feel the same way. I think a lot of the problems result from Elwood not taking the board as seriously as he once did. I know it's a problem for a lot of people, and I'm not saying it's not a valid concern. It is, IMO. However, the frustration from him not taking the board as seriously pales for me in comparison to being happy for him AS A REAL PERSON. He's happy IRL. It's making the board suffer a little, the genuine trolls are making it a thousand times worse than it needed to be, but in the end....someone I like is happy, and liking him is not the same as agreeing with all his decisions about the board. I think WF will recover, though I acknowledge that it may take time.

So really, it turns out that once we all get to pointing out the behind-the-scenes, what REALLY happened... Cheeky Monkey's claim that Elwood lied about being a cop is really starting to make sense. It looks like to date he's lied about pretty much everything else. And there is evidence confirming those lies. And there's actually [admittedly weak] circumstantial evidence that he lied about being a cop. And first-hand testimony. :bergman:
