Kurt Angle doesn’t think Vince McMahon is really retired​

Since Vince McMahon resigned from WWE amidst internal & external investigations into NDAs, hush money, and other financial questions, every report we’re received indicates the long-time CEO, Chairman & head of creative no longer has any role in the company’s day-to-day operations. But current and former WWE wrestlers have expressed doubts. Add Kurt Angle to that list. Our Olympic hero was on Cafe Dr Rene podcast last week, and told Rene Dupree:

“I personally don’t think he’s fully retired. You know Vince, he’s gonna be behind-the-scenes [laughs]. Vince is not letting go of that company, he will not let it go until his hands are dead cold and they pry it out of his cold, dead hands. He’s not letting go of that company until he dies. And that’s just it.” “And you know, I’m not trying to cause any problems for WWE or for Vince McMahon, because I love Vince to death. But there is no way he is going to let it go. He already set up, you know, Stephanie [McMahon] being in charge and Triple H being in charge of talent relations. He’s got everybody in the right positions so that he could continue to run the show.”

Vince McMahon Misconduct Investigation ‘Substantially Complete,’ WWE Says​

WWE said its board’s investigation into alleged misconduct by ex-CEO and chairman Vince McMahon is “substantially complete.” The company restated earnings going back to 2019 to account for personal payments McMahon made during his tenure, including $14.6 million allegedly to women in return for their silence about affairs and other misconduct. However, the McMahon investigation may continue to have a financial impact, WWE said in regulatory filings. “While we currently anticipate spending approximately $10 million during the remainder of the year related to this investigation, the related costs could exceed this estimate,” the wrestling entertainment company said in its 10-Q filing for the second quarter of 2022. As previously disclosed, WWE also has “received, and may receive in the future, regulatory, investigative and enforcement inquiries, subpoenas or demands arising from, related to, or in connection with these matters,” the company said.

Report: Vince McMahon Paid Donald Trump's Charity $5M; Wasn't Reported as WWE Expense​

Former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon paid a total of $5 million to the now-dissolved Donald J. Trump Foundation in 2007 and 2009, per Joe Pals solo and Ted Mann of the Wall Street Journal. That money reportedly served as a portion of the $19.6 million in unrecorded company expenses that McMahon should have disclosed, per an SEC filing. According to Todd Spamgler of Variety in July, WWE stated in an SEC filing that it planned to revise financial statements dating back to 2019 to account for $14.6 million in previously unrecorded expenses. As noted by the Wall Street Journal, the bulk of those payments were in response to allegations of sexual misconduct against McMahon and another WWE executive.

Investigation into Vince McMahon's hush money payments reportedly turns up Trump charity donations​

Even after Vince McMahon, the former WWE chief executive, retired from the company amid an investigation into his hush money payments to women, news of additional payments is still coming out. The latest revelation involves former president Donald Trump.The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that $5 million of McMahon's $19.6 million in unrecorded company expenses went to Trump's charity, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, in 2007 and 2009. The payments were made in years when Trump — who was a reality TV star on NBC's "The Apprentice" at the time — made appearances at WWE events, including 2007's WrestleMania 23 and WWE's Monday night showcase "Raw," in 2009. The Wall Street Journal reported that the $5 million went to Trump's charity. A person who reviewed Trump's 2007 WrestleMania contract told the Journal that "Mr. Trump directed Mr. McMahon to send a $4 million appearance fee to Mr. Trump's charity."

Update On WWE Backstage Morale Following Vince McMahon's Retirement​

Since the resignation of Vince McMahon this past July, WWE has reinvigorated its product in the eyes of many fans, and it appears that some wrestlers feel the same way. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently commented on the current morale in the company during an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, saying that it's high amongst many members of WWE's roster following the departure of McMahon. Since the instillation of Paul "Triple H" Levesque as both the Head of Creative and the EVP of Talent Relations, Meltzer believes that many are starting to recognize the struggle it was working with McMahon in recent years. "It really hit me that Vince really was a hindrance." Meltzer also addressed how WWE employees currently feel regarding the change in atmosphere since Levesque took control. "People sort of speculated and everything but when you see the difference in the mood over there, I think it's a better product."

Vincent Kennedy McMahon was born in 1945 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. His enormous net worth comes from his career as a media proprietor, former professional wrestling promoter, executive, and performer.
Vince is the younger son of Victoria (née Hanner, later Askew) and Vincent James McMahon. Vincent was the founder of Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the precursor to the organization now known as WWE. McMahon's father left the family when he was still a baby, along with his elder son, Rod. He didn't meet his father until he was 12 years old. His paternal grandfather was fellow promoter Roderick James “Jess” McMahon, whose parents were immigrants of Irish descent from County Galway. Report: WWE board opens inquiry into CEO Vince McMahon's alleged $3M settlement for ex-employee's silence

The board of World Wrestling Entertainment is investigating a secret $3 million settlement that company CEO Vince McMahon agreed to make to a former employee over an alleged affair, according to a Wall Street Journal report Wednesday. The separation agreement, which was signed in January, is meant to prevent the now-former employee from discussing her relationship with McMahon or making disparaging comments about him, according to the Journal. An email sent to WWE board members March 30 indicates that the 76-year-old McMahon hired the former staffer, 41, on a $100,000 salary and then gave her a raise to $200,000 after the start of the alleged sexual relationship with her.

The email sent to the board regarding the former WWE employee, who was hired as a paralegal in 2019, alleged that McMahon gave the woman to Laurinaitis "like a toy." The board is investigating the email's allegations, the report stated. The Journal reported that the board has retained the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett to conduct the investigation and that payments of other nondisclosure agreements, outside of the one involving the former employee, have totaled in the millions of dollars. McMahon bought the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from his father, Vincent J. McMahon, in 1982 and built the company into a global wrestling powerhouse and media conglomerate that has produced crossover stars such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena.
