Strange New Worlds season 3

For a moment, I got the impression he was going to wipe everyone's memories of the Gorn back to reset, and that would explain how they became a "new" encounter in TOS.
That would have been an extremely lame reset button push. Glad it didn't go there.

I enjoyed this one, finally Ortegas got an episode centered on her and Navia pulled it off nicely. A minor complaint about time passage, four hours or whatever on the Enterprise seemed more like days on the moon. Nice references to the Constellation and Captain Decker (future RIP). Enemies surviving together has been done countless times within Star Trek and without, but I think it worked here. Didn't really mind the Metron thing at the end. I guess it could be considered a sort of... not a retcon but an addition. The Gorn costume/effects are pretty impressive as well. The whole thing looked damn good, visually.

9/10

Besides those old TOS eps, it also reminded me of Enemy Mine (which I haven't seen in years).

I think this was one of the better SNW episodes.

It just occurred to me: there was a very limited cast for this episode: no M'Benga, Chapel, Scotty or Palia. And most of all: No James Kirk.

Maybe a reduced cast made this episode tighter.

BTW, when was the last time we saw Sam Kirk?

Yeah, limited cast helped the flow, not too many side-plots. Last time Sam was on was ep 5 I think.

I want to amend this part. After a rewatch with subtitles on (ain't deaf yet ya know!), it would seem the Enterprise had been hanging around out there for 46 hours at some point. I'm not sure how that aligns with the vaccine emergency, but it might work.

I don't think they outright specified about the time on that. Just that they really needed to hurry etc, etc.

It did seem weird she took the time to teach the Gorn chess and play several games (and learn the Gorn version of chess in return.) I still haven't learned chess in my whole lifetime, let alone 46 hours.

I learned chess in the 5th grade. What's wrong with you? :D
