Linardatou (12-2, 6 KOs), 31, who was born in the Dominican Republic, was a tough opponent, and her only loss had been on points to Persoon. This was her second defense of the WBO belt.

Djokovic beat a nervous Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4 Sunday to win his fifth Paris Masters final and 34th overall Masters title to move one behind all-time leader Rafael Nadal. Shapovalov had a walkover into his first Masters final because the second-ranked Nadal pulled out of their semifinal with an abdominal strain.

Ashleigh Barty beats Elina Svitolina to win maiden WTA Finals title
The title adds to the 23-year-old Australian's lengthy list of achievements in 2019, including her first Grand Slam title at the French Open. She also rose to the No. 1 ranking in the game and is now enjoying her 15th week in the top spot, becoming the first Australian to hold the year-end top spot.

No. 2 Alabama installed as a touchdown favorite over No. 1 LSU
Alabama has been favored in 62 consecutive games and 133 of its past 134 contests. The Crimson Tide were 1-point underdogs at Georgia in 2015. Since 1978, there have been six games in which the No. 1 team in the AP poll was at least a touchdown underdog. Most recently, top-ranked Clemson was a 6.5-point underdog to No. 2 Alabama in the 2015 College Football Playoff title game.

Ticats clean up as East, West All-Star lists revealed
Record-setting receiver Brandon Banks topped the list of 13 Hamilton Tiger-Cats placed on the East Division all-star squad. Banks finished the regular season as the CFL's leading receiver. The five-foot-seven, 150-pound dynamo had a club-record 112 catches for 1,550 yards and 13 TDs to secure Hamilton's nomination for the league's outstanding player award. the Montreal Alouettes' nine all-star nominations. The Toronto Argonauts had three players named

The Saskatchewan Roughriders put eight players on the West Division squad, including quarterback Cody Fajardo. Also named were receiver Shaq Evans, offensive lineman Dan Clark, defensive lineman Charleston Hughes, linebackers Solomon Elimimian and Derek Moncrief, safety Mike Edem and punter Jon Ryan. The Calgary Stampeders named to the squad. The Edmonton Eskimos had five players selected.
