Buffy: Slayer of the Vampyrs.

His twin brother should have taken his place at the conventions when he went bananas.

Happy birthday Sarah Michelle Gellar (49)!

Really shocked by this, I saw "Buffy and Ted Lasso actor dead" on my phone with a photo of Anthony Stewart Head and still thought/hoped "maybe it's misleading..." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd0p0rz4n0mo

I know 72 is objectively not young (he was a year older than my mum when she died) but it's not that old either and I hadn't heard anything about health problems. He was as vital a part of why Buffy worked as anyone: perfect as the "older" authority figure (he was younger than me when it started) who becomes a father to the main character. I loved any episode where we got more on his personal life and history. I was thinking about the proposed Ripper spin-off the other day and the missed potential there.

Try to watch this without crying.

Dawn, Xander and Giles within 16 months...make it stop.

I am gutted. I saw the news earlier and I'm pretty sure I did one of those cartoon double blink and headshake maneouvers to make sure I was reading it right and then I just felt my stomach drop right after.

Shocked would be the word I guess. Similar to my reaction to poor Michelle passing. Of course her passing had the extra tragic element of her being so young but I still don't consider 72 to be ancient by any stretch. I remember watching Ted Lasso and noticing how fit, vital and handsome he still was. I just didn't see this one coming at all.

As soon as I started to see Facebook, Insta and X (spits) start to fill up with the news I had to get up from the computer and go and do some chores and get away from the screen for a while. I don't usually react this badly to celebrity passings but Buffy was and is more than just a tv show to me and Giles was just (as Wacky said) a monumentally important reason why it worked. He was fantastic.

So yeah, this one really hurts. :(

Same as you guys, shocking news that feels different than many celebrity pass, due to his age, how much buffs was part of my teens, and just how bloody nice he seemed.

I met him very briefly once, and I remember how deftly and humanely he dealt with a slightly off kilter fan who was rambling and being a bit creepy tbh. He didn’t show any sign of being phased, and calmly diffused something which others might’ve reacted very differently to.

And on a selfish note, this makes it even worse that the Buffy revival didn’t go ahead. No doubt he would have featured, which would’ve been great for all involved.
