"Cloverfield".....WTF?

Very interesting.... When I first saw the preview during transformers I thought the same thing, "WTF?"

We'll have to wait, and see. Seems like a cool concept. They got my attention.

They're guessing it's heavily "Cthulhu"-derived over at IMDb. JJ Abrams is supposed to be a Lovecraft fan.

Makes some sense, considering "Lost".

I'm not sure exactly what this is about, but it looks interesting at least. I've heard the Cthulu theory, and it's possible. The "monster" sounds a lot like Lostzilla, btw.

A "Godzilla" remake or sequel would be stupefyingly redundant at this point. If you're gonna make a giant-monster movie, go balls to the wall and make that motherfucker bigger than anything we've seen before; a total death-machine as well, instead of just some oversized animal.

Hopefully that's where they're going: Something that could throw the Statue of Liberty's head all the way to the Upper East (or West...?) Side.

And I like the whole "Blair Witch" approach to it as well. Wonder if it's just and advertising gimmick or if the whole movie will actually be this way?

A MOUNTAIN WALKED OR STUMBLED. GODS!

You know I was thinking I liked the Blair witch style as well..
But thinking on it some more.. After a while it would get old..

I wonder, if it's going to be the monster from lost???

I just hope with all the hype that it is getting, that the movie does not turn out to suck..

As I understand it, the whole movie is shot that way. There are very few details about the film at all yet, however, and even "Cloverfield" is a working title.

Actually I can't quite place where in Manhattan this is. I had thought one of the buildings in the background was the Empire State Building, now I think it's further downtown.

New trailer.

Still can't really see the goddamn thing (or things), but "Cloverfield" is the official title, and we know it's definitely going to be done Blair Witch style, consisting almost entirely of 'found' video footage.

Interest undiminished :D

Well, there's been pics of the monster floating around the web for some time...and everyone says they're "plants" to generate interest and throw everyone off. Not gonna worry too much about it.

I'm convinced that pouty-looking woman with the dark curly hair that's been featured prominently in the TV spots is the same one that two military-types take behind some brightly-lit makeshift curtain, where we see in silhouette that she seems to be caught in the preliminary stages of exploding (listen closely to the sounds, then slo-mo the image).

Between this and Lost coming back I'm GETTIN MY JJ ON.

i cannot WAIT to see this film. the super-secret-ninja-stealth ad campaign and blair-witch-style cinematography, combined with the promise of a giant scary monster that completely fucks UP new york is just too tempting.

i'm such a sucker for marketing. it's almost embarrassing.
