Do not send Private Messages at Wordforge

An inconceivable privacy rights violation is transpiring at Wordforge.

I don't think it's revenge, but if there are threats being made, Elwood may have to make a thorough investigation with review of all relevant evidence including PM access.

Incredible!!! Rather than ask any recipients of threatening messages to forward the messages, in itself not easily faked, the staff has announced its intent to pry open the PM boxes of every single Wordforger it deigns to!!

In an obvious propaganda statement, BearTM AKA Listkeeper the Tormentor reiterated his support of the new policy, stating that he would make his PM boxes [??] "fully available to Tamar and Elwood so that their investigation will be as thorough and fair as possible".

As it is unlikely that Tamar and Elwood have developed a deep enough distrust of a person still on their staff to begin personally checking their boxes, we must conclude this statement is meant to convince people to comply in giving up their liberty.

Just as Elwood had previously declared "Martial Law" at Wordforge, giving his staff the power to ban anyone who garnered a single warning, now to is he poised to abuse the power of the administrative console given to him by the people by conducting surprise inspections of their PM boxes.

The prevalent illusion at Wordforge is that freedom and power flow from the top down. Does the elite believe this dictatorial structure be maintained forever?

It seems so.

I thought it was physically impossible for administration to read PMs? That's been the official stand for years.

Interesting... there are some unsavory hacks for it, but would these inspections entail changing account passwords, then logging in with the account in question?

Wouldn't notifying someone of this give them the chance to erase any PMs?

I've seen the hacks. They provide a nice index of all recently sent PMs, like you would see in a search function.

Verteron installed a hack to read PMs at EFCL. Ultimately it's what got him trolled to the point of closing the old board. But that was a phpBB board, and WF is vBulletin like TK. And...

*reads from prepared statement*

"As someone who has had full access to Troll Kingdom's server and control panel, I can state that at no time did I encounter a function or device that allowed for the reading of any content contained in any of the membership's Private Messages."

How'd I do, mm? ;)

Perfect....

And it was the first thing you looked for, wasn't it?

:D

Aw-hyuk, just a bit of pot stirring in a troll board's Help Desk, is all. Don't tcha'll pay no nevermind to this 'PM' business...?

When Nick returns this evening, and after my dinner party, we'll begin going through the database and pulling the PMs from the members that have given up permission to do so. After the Administrators digest that, we'll know more and we'll have an answer.

Oh, and one more note for all parties concerned. Don't think you can sanitize your inbox and sent messages folders to hide anything. You may have deleted it, but it's in the database. All of it...is in the database and we now have permission to look through it.

What outrageousness! As if a poster could withhold permission for Eliteforge to peruse their PM box and not appear to be hiding something.

Hot damn! There have been numerous posts over the years, by various admins, stating that endeavor was impossible.

They WERE lying.

Makes me wonder what else they lie about.

And with these people, who aren't afraid to cross ethical lines, who's to say they wait for permission? And if they say they do wait, should they be believed?

Dayum...

This is the internet. Lies abound. The only difference between liars is who will admit to it after the fact.

And what is to stop Elwood and Nick Walczak from reading the PMs of others involved?

Their word?

What outrageousness! As if a poster could withhold permission for Eliteforge to peruse their PM box and not appear to be hiding something.
This is a violation of the basic liberties Wordforgers should enjoy. The strongarm tactic of demanding access to one's private messages, lest the person be subjected to the witchhunt gul endured, is reprehensible. "No first use" ends here.
