Doctor Who Series 9 - September 19th

If it is that hard to track the Doctor down in the universe that snake guy can only find him when Clara and Missy track him down, how are the Daleks able to have a sleeper agent with him for the last two weeks?

I wondered that too but I THINK it was supposed to be that the guy only became a sleeper Dalek after he was bitten by Snake Guy's snake?

It was oooooh kay. It was really fast paced and lots of ideas were thrown around right from the beginning, but it felt like it didn't really have much of a plot. All it boiled down to was "a bunch of people were looking for the Doctor and they all eventually found him right at the same time". I feel like Moffat has loads of good concepts, but he doesn't sit on them and think them through for long enough. He thinks "ooh, wouldn't it be amazing if all the planes in the world stopped at once?!", and just bungs it into 5 minutes of a show as a throwaway thing. And then chucks in another 20 nifty ideas he hasn't thought through. He needs to take a chill pill and write a story with just one or two good ideas.

I felt like Missy was sort of... I dunno. After Dark Water/Death In Heaven, I guess they didn't have much room for improvement, but it felt like she slipped down a few notches. And the whole, "Yeah, I died, but whatevs, fags!" (not her exact words) felt just plain lazy. Obviously, the biggest apparent hole -- the Doctor going back to Skaro to point the gun at young Davros despite lack of TARDIS and the only one with a Vortex Manipulator getting vaporized -- will be explained in the next episode (or if it's a longer arc, by the end of said arc).

(I would have said SPOILERS! but for two things: If people are reading this, I assume they've already seen the episode, and also I'm not Alex Kingston, she of the Q-tip hair and the nice rack.)

There wasn't even any need to have EVERY PLANE IN THE WORLD frozen anyway when one would have done the same job. And how Missy asks for eight snipers to guarantee that she won't kill anyone...then just kills people randomly and UNIT woman does nothing to stop her because she's shit at her job.

I liked this week's. Better than the first part I thought, which rarely happens! I think it avoided falling into the traps Moffat's writing sometimes does (because he got them out of the way in the first part.) The Doctor/Davros conversations covered some of the same ground as Death In Heaven but the subject was handled much better here. Missy and Clara were good together.

The explanation for how Missy always survives being shot was pretty much what we all thought it would be but that's not a bad thing.

(Of course a Dalek begged River for mercy once so it's a bit weird that the Doctor would find that unusual but I guess he wasn't there when that happened if you want to get technical.)

Utter bullshit, Moffat must go.

A few laughs along the way, but generally, WTF? Davros sets up the Doctor, but the Doctor was setting him up all along, and he realises he has to show Davros mercy after a Dalek is capable of mercy?

Fuck that and fuck Moffat.

Rememberence of teh Daleks was one of the best of the original epides, and they blew up Skarlo for a good reason.

Also, Davros is just a torso, but there is room for the Doctors legs in his chair? Fuck off.

The frist version of her we saw was converted into a Dalek, yeah. She was a time fragment or whatever and we don't know if this Clara remembers anything her time fragments did.

Better than the first episode. Though I'm not well versed enough in the old episodes to fully appreciate the Davros/Doctor dynamic I did really like their scenes. It did annoy me a bit when it turned out the Doctor had known Davros's evil plan all along, because double triple crossing often feels like a cheat, but I must admit it was a consistent story. At least we got to watch the Doctor figure out that Clara was in the Dalek.

In order to get in Davros' special chair that protects the owner from Dalek weapons, the Doctor threatens Davros, with a Dalek weapon.

It's unclear what the radius of Davros' protective shield is (presumably as wide as the chair itself) and The Doctor was point the thing at Davros' face point blank.

Plus, y'know, Davros was tricking The Doctor anyway. Which is why his chair was filled with snakes.

So there is going to be another spin off show set in coal hill school, even though Clara the only character we care about from that school is leaving.

But who dosnt want a doctor who show full of dreadful acting kids with no Doctor and no companion right?

Well they could get around that be casting good kid actors like Sarah Jane Adventures did (apart from the one who was axed after the first episode.)
