Emma Watson is single – and she doesn't sound too happy about it.
The "Harry Potter" actress is still struggling with the fact that her international fame has affected everything from her love life to her ability to pursue an education.
"I say to my friends, 'Why hasn't X called me? Why doesn't anyone ever pursue me?'" she told The Sunday Times. "They're like, 'Probably because they're intimidated.'"
"It must be the fame wall," Watson theorized. "It must be the circus that goes around me. Me, as a person, I find it hard to believe I would be intimidating."
That's not to say no guys ever approach her – she just hasn't met anyone brave enough to offer a genuine pickup line.
"I constantly get stuff like, do I have a magic wand I can sort things out with? Or guys come up to me and go, 'Where's Harry? Where's Ron?,'" the 21-year-old said.
"Sometimes, maybe because they feel intimidated, they feel they have to knock me down," she explained. "They know perfectly well who I am, but they'll ask me, 'How are the Narnia films going?'"
Watson admitted that her lackluster love life and inability to balance the responsibilities of college life at Brown University with her demanding film career eventually made her realize she was "in denial."
"I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was," she conceded. "I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened."
Now, with the final "Potter" installment hitting theaters next month, Watson at least finds herself "more comfortable with fame" than she once was.
"Sometimes I think I am the worst person to be in the position I'm in. I'm shy, I'm sensitive and I'm self-critical," she explained. "It's a terrible combination."
"But those qualities also make me want to be better," she added.
