You're kidding. An Admin actually asked you why you were 'nice' to Ogami? [Who btw is a complete individual, and marches to his own tune. A VERY nice quality in a person, even if I march to a different tune.]

The individualistic human will always draw attention and criticism from the mob. You are out of step with the majority.

In the early 80s I once attended EST - I have since forgotten what that stands for, but it was basically a group mind control seminar along the lines of Scientology. You were told that if you completed the program you would find out what "IT" was - the answer to all the questions in the Universe I suppose. EST had all the usual brain washing techniques: fear, deprivation, group acceptance, isolation, stringent rules and regulations you had to follow to the "T". Well, I am able to follow rules so I never broke one that they could find even when they tried to single me out from the herd because I was one of the only holdouts who hadn't broken a rule yet. They would use any transgression in order to single you out of the herd, and then demoralize you. At the end of the seminar (it took two weekends to complete), I found myself seated in an area a little away from the rest of the mob who were, by this time, glassy eyed zombies singing hosanas to the cult's leader, Warner Erhardt (Airhead was what I called him). The little group I was seated with kept silent for the most part. And as our Fearless Cult Leader droned on and on about how we should sign up for more courses, the people around me began to mumble openly about what a crock of cwap this all was, and voice angry remarks. Funny how we had silently found one another of like minds and formed our own little rebellious group without even knowing it.

I find every group has people who are outsiders by choice, and eventually we find one another and take over a portion of the playground, then we give it a name like Troll Kingdom. But even here we have playground bullies who think that freedom of speech means how nasty we can be to one another.

I am so confused by the rules I can't make heads or tails of them. Unless you post as if you have doubled your Prozac meds, you will eventually run afoul of the shifting rules and get a warning. See how everyone posts *happy* posts with a lot of hugs and pats on the back. No one dares to say what they really feel or you get branded with being a troublemaking malcontent worthy of being called a *jerk* or *troll* for daring to not march the happy party line. I see no one from staff has made a comment about Tom Sawyer being called a *jerk* in absentia. Don't kid yourself, they will just let it go and ignore a more acceptable member's name calling as long as it is against someone from here.

Blondie reported it to Banapis last night...I was standing right over her shoulder when she did it. Banapis later replied back that he had started a thread on it in the SL. So, it's in the machine.

When I return Monday, I plan to follow through on it and a few other things. Suspending me for a pseudo-threat wasn't a smart thing to do...you dance with the devil you eventually pay the piper. ;)

As to Ogami: I invited him over here several times, but he said it just wasn't his cup of tea.

Cait - Yes, and I kept the PM in my folder, so I do have proof.

Oh my, that is sad. I think I always wanted to believe that this sort of bias didn't really exist. *frowns*

^ Actually, no, I'm not kidding. I hoped that even though there were some who danced to their own tune, that TPTB kept out of the politics of the membership and just enforced the rules as fairly as possible. I wouldn't bother posting in AQG if I didn't secretly hope that....

I never got on well with Ogami in OT, but he is one hell of a writer and I always enjoyed his reviews and essay's. To now find out that an admin effectively and secretly told a member not to welcome him back.. well that goes beyond the pale actually. That's a rude awakening.

I sort of hate to say it, .. "But you told me so!"

Cait - please let me disabuse you from what you are thinking. I never said the Admin told me not to welcome Ogami back, the Admin asked me why I did and why I liked Ogami.

It's Lillian Garcia all right. Let me do some searching, and I'll find you some nice ones, A Karas. Keep your eye on the Wrestling forum. :)

Erhardt Seminar Training, I think. And my lord! You survived!

Isn't EST the thing where they spend all day yelling at you and tearing you down so they can build you back up in their own image?

Sounds sort of like EI, actually.

Interesting conversation going on here. I came EI because I knew a group was plotting to get Ogami. And that person admitted he was there to get Ogami flat out. But did the staff care that this member joined just for this purpose? Hell no they were more concerned with changing the rules about bringing information from another board to EI. And suddenly there was a poll and the rules were changed. SHAZAM! I had no plans to stick around but heck I thought that place was interesting, if they didn't care about this guy and his planned attack but cared more about the rules, whats up with that picture?

Thus began my journey to see how the rules were applied and got slapped in the face with an 'Attack' myself by a green bar. When I complained to an admin I was shocked by the answered I received. And little did I know how valuable saving those PM's could be in the future at that place. I was told that he was a celebrity member and they get treated differently because they are Demigods. He is a writer and I just don't understand his style. WTF. I understood pefectly. He was able to write insults to me in his posts and get away with it becasue it was his style of writing. I continue on my course of questions to the admin and got completle shut down. If I only had those PM's now. But I copied green bar's style for a while, used his sentenses almost word for word and I got warnings. I wanted to see if I could get aways with the same thing but that was a big NO. What was I thinkin' ? Thus rules are for some folks not for all folks.

Ogami will be back in Dec around Christmas time, he thought. His 6 weeks of boot camp would be over. And would be checking in at EI or would Email me. We became friends since we both spentalot time out of the OT, not by choice..lol...We just share the same political views on alot of things. But was that guy funny....Gawd I miss his humor.

He is not going to believe what has happened to EI.. My guess is he would last about 4 days in the OT with the OTurds watching every letter he wrote.

When I first read this I was shocked but then I came to reality quick and the darts stopped flying out of my eyes. Nothing surprises me from the staff over there. I mean when an admin openly lied on the board about the PM's, I sent I just grinned. The OTurds would not clarify all the PM's they sent to me that never made it into my PM box. Something was clearly wrong.

Hearing that you received a question list from an admin tell us there are alot of problems with the staff members.

Because I don't post that much on EI (look at my measly 300 plus posts), I don't know anyone on that board. I lurked and read and watched the combatants square off. So I don't know Ogami, I just loved his reviews, his way with words when he wasn't being angry, and I thought he was incredibly brave to stick his neck out in OT and say what he really thought. He didn't seem to care that the entire board was against him. Funnily enough, G1223 seemed to like Ogami and went to bat for him in AQG a couple of times when Ogami was smacked down by TPTB. In those days, it was Drew, G1223 and Ogami who were told to stand in a corner when they got on the Admins/Mods' collective nerve.

Yes, I did indeed survive EST. That little group I ended up with the last day of the seminar were the only ones who survived and resolutely refused to be zombified and drink the funny Koolaid. You should have seen the room, it was packed with old zombies and the newly inducted zombies. I think that was the scariest part of the entire seminar. All those people, eyes glazed over, worshipping The Airhead as if he was some god. There were maybe 10 of us who were untouched. I have to tell you, you did come away scarred because of the destructive brain washing methods EST employed. However, I did learn some things that were key: (1) There is no "IT" to get; and (2) the first person who speaks loses. The latter concept I used on the salesman zombies who called you for months afterwards trying to get you to sign up for more and more seminars that cost bundles to keep their Airhead God in the style he became accustomed to. I subjected them to what I had learned from the seminar. They gave their spiel, and I replied with a polite "no thank you" and that was the last thing I would say to them. I let the silence stretch until they broke down and asked again. The only thing I ever said to them was "no thank you". They finally stopped calling. This concept works in real life too.
