Putting aside the AI-slop voiceover, the point here is actually valid.
Anna Shcherbakova won gold with twenty-nine points more than what secured gold at the 2026 Olympics. Twenty-nine. That’s not a marginal difference, that’s a different sport. By that metric, Alexandra Trusova would have walked gold as well with a similar skate.
And that’s exactly why Adeliia Petrosian went for the quad, even though she’s clearly less proficient at them than Anna or Sasha. She had to. The scoring logic basically forced it. It just didn’t come off on the day.
What really underlines how mad this is: literally none of the other girls at these Olympics even attempted quads. In 2022, Trusova landed five. Anna landed two, then beat her anyway on components and artistry. Both performances are in a different scoring universe than anything that was attempted at these games.
That’s the gap we’re talking about.
For the record I don't think this diminishes Alysa's achievement. If anything it's an indictment on the extreme dieting and brutal training that Tutberidze demands of her athletes. A lot of which break down after 18.
