Here we go again.......

Wary? Yes, to a degree. But the person, IMO, should also be loyal to EI and trustworthy enough that they wouldn't, say, use the SL threads for their own personal amusement. ;)

In that regard, I agree that either you or Cait (who already stated she doesn't want it) would make an excellent Watchdog.

See, that is the exact balance you DO need. Someone who is wary of all authority and loyal to the community. Not the board as much as the people in the community itself. if you care for the people you won't betray them by leaking things that should remain secure in the SL.

I agree with you A Karas. Those are two excellent qualities in a watchdog.

I'd do it, but I doubt I'd get nominated and if by some miracle I WAS nominated, I highly doubt anyone would let me do it, lmfao. I made the mistake of having an opinion.

I just find it amazing that we're having an in depth discussion about what EI needs in a watchdog on trollkingdom and not there - where its most needed.

I think one of the most important things on a watchdog is beign willing to draw a line, and say 'this is reasonable behaviour by staff' and 'this isn't'.. and being willing to say 'and that line wont' be crossed on my watch'.

And sticking to it, consistently, for everyone, regardless of the situation.

Yes, but here (oddly enough) the discussion stays civil while on EI it would turn into a bloodbath in 2.5 seconds.

They're too defensive at EI. There's a core group of people with the mentality of "We've been doing this for a long time, we know what's best for the community and nothing is going to change that." Simply put, they don't like opinions that contradict them. Cait is a perfect example; she has more insight and valuable opinions than maybe anyone else there. What does she get for it? More often it's something along the lines of "you're wrong, go to hell" than "thank you."

*shrug*

LOL, I thought the same thing. It is really odd for two reasons. 1) You'd think it would happen on EI and 2) this is TK.. the land of "Who Cares" and "nothing but spam".

It boggles the mind sometimes--life I mean.

Who are you "Masked wo/man"? ;)

Think LoP has been following this thread?:

I've been thinking and have a question for ExIsle members. What traits do you feel that our watchdogs should have? How do you feel they should act. What do you think their job should be and what do you think it is?

I think you're right, s.sadiablo

It will be interesting to see how the discussion develops...but I notice a few people from here have already weighed in.
