Here's a thread about Doctor Who Series 8 for TK if you like

Remember the "THIS IS THE DAY ROSE TYLER DIED" trailer (well you didn't watch then so you don't, but I'm saying trailers can't be trusted.)

For what it's worth, the Natural History Museum in London (which I think is where they were really supposed to be even though the captain said different) does have sleepovers for schoolkids. No idea whether that includes maths teachers too.

Oh I also hope Missy isn't an older, crazy Clara (when the children kept calling her "miss" this week it made me think it was a possibility.)

Well, sorry for spoiling the Missy is the Master twist weeks ago (on REFCL!)

I also predicted Danny was going to get run over right before it happened and kind of found it funny. And sorry I still don't buy his and Clara's relationship that seems to consist of saying "I love you!" to each other a lot.

But the scenes in the fake afterlife were very good and disturbing. I liked that whole side to the episode. The Cybermen were cool but of course would have been better if they hadn't been in the next time trailer (was Clara saying "Clara Oswald doesn't exist!" even in the episode at all by the way?) The part where Missy killed the Harry Potter guy was also good.

I guess some will be outraged by FEMALE MASTER?

Maybe the episode was initially going to be a feature length episode, that's why we saw scenes from both episodes in last weeks next time, and why we had no next time this week?

Then they fucked all that up by splitting it anyway.

I thought this one was really good. The afterlife is scary and weird, and I like weird stuff. I don't know enough Doctor Who lore to know what the significance of the Master is.

The Master was last seen being played by laughing, gurning, over-acting, annoyance John Simm, being literally acted off screen by Sir Timothy Dalton.

Missy was pretty much imitating Simm's style in the first episode, so we pretty much all should have known from there.

I thought we were rid of the Master. Ugh. He annoys me. They always go on about how The Doctor is the last of his race and somehow, somewhere they find another Time Lord.

I never caught the imitating of Simm. I kept thinking she looked familiar and got it into my head she was the woman with that metal eye patch that took Amy Pond's baby (River Song) in that part of the story. LOL I thought it was her and just that she was missing the eye patch and lost weight.

Well Gallifrey was found so there's no reason Timelords can't start showing up now (though they closed the crack again at the end of the episode so I don't know maybe we'll get answers next week.)

Some people are saying it was Missy's hand you saw climbing out of the painting when Clara stepped out, and her hand looked at an impossible angle.

From the Masters point of view, his fight with Rassilon where the Doctor sent them both back to Gallifrey would have only been earlier that day, and he would probably have to regenerate from the injuries.

Exactly. My guess on that vein would be that the Master and some others were not trapped in that other universe on Galifrey when they saved it. You'd think they'd be bitching to get home instead of being assholes.

I didn't catch that either. Ugh.

Then how did they get back? The crack is closed. I hate this "Timey Wimey" stuff. Does my head in!

Maybe they'll leave next week as a season cliff-hanger and really drive us nuts.

I like this actress's take on the Master more. She's nutty, but you get the impression she's as cunning as the Doctor, and as able to think several steps ahead of mere mortals.

The whole afterlife thing was great, but very much spoiled by the cybermen being shown in all the trailers. The whole episode I was just thinking "eh, I guess they're being turned into cybermen!" when I should've been completely in the dark.

The only thing I'd forgotten about was the cybermen marching out of St Paul's, which I suppose is apt, since the same will probably be said of the Londoners of the Doctor Who universe by the next time he visits the city.

Is it too early to complain about the scene where Danny uses the power of love to resist becoming a Cyberman and somehow ends up alive again at the end of the episode? (We all know it's coming.)

^Well okay, half of it came true.

So that was an entertaining episode but also half of it made no sense?

Missy's reason for putting the Doctor and Clara together was really really flimsy (like I can't even remember what it was) and certainly didn't justify keeping it a mystery for two years or explain the ominous "I HAVE CHOSEN WELL" bit.

Missy is killed by...the Brigidair who's a Cyberman now because apparently anyone turned into a Cyberman can just choose to keep their own identity or whatever and she's obviously not dead she was just teleported away.

The scene where Oscgood died was actually good and tense and made me feel something. Of course it meant they killed off a character with a lot of potential in her second appearance. And the two UNIT guards just stood there watching Missy escape because...UNIT is shit I guess?

There's a digital copy of a child in a digital afterlife but somehow his flesh human body comes through a portal because...oh fuck I don't know. THE FEELS.

The Doctor has control of the Cyber Army and can order them to do anything but he has to give the controller to Danny to order them to stop the cloud? Okay this might have been part of the thing about the Doctor "keeping his hands clean" but didn't Missy consider that the Doctor could just order the Cybermen to stop the cloud himself? But I liked the idea of her giving him an army.

Clara isn't in the Christmas episode? But I'm not excepting this as her final appearance. Which means she must be coming back as a companion next year?

Yeah I really don't know about this.
