HeroicFool Indefinitely Suspended...

I suppose you just had to be there to understand why this 'smells' so much.

At the time of the OQ leak, one of the reasons that they were so explosive was because the Staff actually *did* plot against HF. There were threads with Admins and mods refusing to lift a suspension once it was over. There were threads about baiting him until he exploded so they could suspend him again. It went on and on and on, with the Staff actually plotting ways to ban him.

Now fast forward to 2006.

That history wasn't lost on the Staff when HF showed up again. I'm not saying he didn't do whatever they say he did. I have no clue really. It's unusual for HF to have a dual, but he might have. What stood out, was that Orpheus reported that they knew he had read the policy. They knew what he had read while he was back. That means they looked at every click. Do you know what kind of time that takes? You think they do that with everyone? Or do you think they just do that for someone they are trying to 'get'.

Someone meticulously spent their time and energy TO FIND SOMETHING. If that isn't pre-meditation what is it?
Cait, the in depth investigation did not start until after the initial investigation showed that the Duncan account was trying to be registered under HF's hotmail addy, the same one he registered HF with to begin with, not before.

There was absolutely no discussion in the SL about how to get rid of him after he showed up, in fact we were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until Orpheus finished his investigation.

Not that anyone would believe me, I just thought I'd post my $0.02, which probably doesn't count for much.

He's now been stricken from the roster, and in his posts he is listed with the "dead accounts". Sounds like there is no applying to TPTB for reconsideration.

^ So.... if someone tries to register an account with [email protected] , I'll be investigated until they find something?

Or does that only apply to known troublemakers. What if I try to create a dual with Cait's email address? Or.... Shals?

The whole thing smells of Lisa..... who spent 6 weeks combing TrekBBS logs to find something to ban me for. And who banned my Slipstream account (no it wasn't missmanners) even though I had never done anything wrong on that board. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Oh and you SS people? Are you going to ban me when my IP shows I'm in Houston, TX?

;)

Of course there wouldn't be..... too easy to be leaked or hacked I suppose. So that leaves PM, IM, emails, and phone, smoke signals, telepathy....

Can you guarantee there was absolutely no discussion or plotting how to get rid of him.... no one can.

Wait, you are trying to tell me that your software doesn't automatically disallow people from using the same e-mail addy as another user in your database? And you're telling me that HF tried to use the same email addy, he used for his main account? And you are telling me that this needed in depth investigation of some sort?

And I'll tell you I have some swamp land in Florida I want to sell.

Here is my problem with this stuff, most of the mods don't even know what the software will and won't do. You get an explanation and you accept it because you don't know better and because you trust those on Staff.

Not that I'm accusing Orpheus of anything, because I have a close friend, who vouches for him, but I'm not buying that this wasn't all triggered by the fact that he just 'showed up'.

Also, I don't think any of the Admins or staff would be stupid enough to talk in the Staff Lounge with WD's hovering, or the possibility of a hack and exposure of such a plan. But I'll bet there was talk out of the SL.

What I do know is this, I don't give a rat's ass about it any more.

I'll never believe, that the minute HF showed up the red flags didn't go up, and pm's flew to watch him and find something to suspend him on. The fact that they found something is well, HF's fuck up I guess, but it doesn't change the fact that they went looking to the sever logs. Why? If what they told you is true, it was a slam dunk.

But don't worry Chatty, I won't be bothering any of you on EI about this. I don't care any more. I just don't care.

You can all sit in your little ivory towers and think that you serve some grand purpose, but all you really do is help to define [as narrowly as possible] some little utopian ideal that doesn't even exist in the real world. It has become the most ridiculously PC place I've ever seen in my life, and what is worse no one can see it. It's almost as if no one can stand their real lives and they escaped into this nirvana known as ExIsle. Anyone who threatens to destroy the illusion of 'be excellent to each other', is fair game, and the mods allow it.

Well, it's not real. In real life, people disagree. In real life people argue. In real life people express their own opinions without having to worry about getting a warning or a ban because you got passionate about an opinion. In real life we don't have moderators dictating what is an acceptable POV.

I love ya, I always have ever since KHC, but don't tell me they weren't gunning for HF. They were. HF just handed them the means, if what is reported is true.

I can't believe the software even allows it. It should have rejected it the minute the user hit submit, the same way it does if a username is already in use. But hey, I'll just swallow whatever they say hook line and sinker, because even if I have questions I should just bite my tongue.

Well that's one way to get rid of someone. Erase them from existence. What a joke.

Where is HF to defend himself against these accusations? I for 1 am interested in his side of the whole debacle

If it were up to me not only would there be no perma bans but if people were stupid enough to want duals, I'd let them. But it's not up to me.

I always knew you had a good head on your shoulders. :)

If I understood correctly, he's a truck driver. Meaning he probably won't see all this for at least another day or so.

They're already derailing the thread over there... :(

Just don't bump yourself another suspension in the process. You know how sensitive they are with your posts. They don't understand you sense of humor either. :(

that's why I'm keeping my argument rational and sensible, for once . they will have no reason to warn me

Awww dang!!!

I may have to go back over the border just to bump and grind.

naww.....but maybe....*giggle*

Well, here's the big honkin' clue that something's not right. Follow me here:

1. HF registers a dual, or tries to, or something. I'm not clear on this. I do know that the tip off was using his old email.

2. Okay, so: admins, realizing who it was, start researching to see whether or not he was aware of the rules about duals.

Doesn't that strike anyone as weird? Why do that? Why not just drop him a PM or email or something and say "hey, you haven't been here in a while, so maybe you didn't know or forgot, but we don't allow duals, so choose which one you want." But nope, that's too sensible. Instead, Orpheus goes through a lot of research to prove that HF at least looked at the pages mentioning duals, and they suspended him based on that.

That makes no freaking sense, unless at least some of the staff were looking for a reason to can Foolie. That's the only logical answer I can see.

If you want some proof: my hubby CU first registered there as Rommie's Ronin. Then he abandoned the account. Then he registered again as the Masked Coyote. They didn't boot him, they put him in limbo and asked him to choose an account. That's what you do --- assuming you're really impartial on the subject.
