Damn. I had hoped to watch episode 4 tonight but between having to get my front rotors and brake pads fixed and pick up soda for the office party tomorrow it doesn't look like I'll have a chance to watch any episodes anytime soon. Especially with concerts and 4th of July festivities and a road trip on Sunday.
Here are my thoughts on the whole season so don't read if you don't want spoilers and I guess I'll put big spoilers behind spoiler code even though that means nobody will ever read them because no one ever goes back to click spoilers later. Anyway.
It was better than season one. It still felt too long or like it didn't have enough story to fill 13 episodes (DO STAND ALONE EPISODE) but it didn't have the massive drop off in quality halfway through like last year and overall was better paced. Bushmaster was a lot of fun and Mariah was a strong villain the whole season through. I liked all the Jamaican people. Luke himself was taken to some dark places without becoming an unlikable character...for the most part. The ending felt a bit like a stretch. I get that it's setting up the Angel season 5 plotline but I don't know if I totally buy Luke doing that.
It's a shame Claire was only in 3 episodes but I guess Rosario is busy and I wonder how much longer she'll be in any of these shows.
The humour seemed improved from the first season. Some bits seemed knowingly cheesey, like when Bushmaster paralysed Luke and he said "CAN'T...MOVE..." like someone in a comic would.
But like I said it still felt stretched out and repetitive at times. A lot of Mariah's scenes seemed to be repeating stuff she'd already said eight times before, but they were always watchable thanks to Alfre Woodard. Some of Misty's police scenes were boring as she took ages to figure out things the viewer already knew. What was with Shades' confession scene where he told us everyone he killed in detail? We already know all of that because we watch the show! Misty worked better when she was just off with Luke or (that one scene) with Colleen. Still too many scenes of goons firing guns at Luke.
The team-up with Danny was actually fun as Danny's character seems to have been changed a lot. Which is good.
I liked when he said "where's my money, honey."
Tilda killing Mariah made sense but I'm not sure why she dressed all sexy and evil after. But comics![/spoilers]
