The BOG vote was 29-1 to approve the sale -- with New York Knicks owner James Dolan registering the lone vote against, sources said.

USA basketball names 14 players for Select Team

Jordan, whose run as majority owner ends after 13 years, will continue to hold a minority stake in the team. The purchase was made at an approximate $3 billion valuation; Jordan paid $275 million for a majority stake in the franchise in 2010.

Schnall also has served as the alternate governor on the NBA's board of governors since 2015. He was involved in various aspects of the Hawks' team-building process as well as the renovations to State Farm Arena. He is co-president of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice LLC, where he has worked for 27 years.
 

Josh Hart finalizing 4-year, $81 million extension with Knicks


Hart's deal -- which he will become eligible to sign Thursday -- will deliver him a total of $94 million through the 2027-28 season. The $81 million is the maximum that Hart can sign for and is 140% off his $12.96 million contract in 2023-24. He will receive $18.1 million in the 2024-25 season. Hart shot 58% overall and 52% from 3-point range in his 25 regular-season games for the Knicks, partnering with immanuel Quickley to become one of the league's most impactful second units. Hart developed into one of the NBA's most capable undersize rebounders and demonstrated an ability to guard multiple positions. A good facilitator and finisher at the rim, his shooting flashed in New York was the missing piece to complete an all-around offensive game.

Former NBA player Stanley 'Whitey' Von Nieda dies at 101


Stanley "Whitey" Von Nieda, who had been the oldest living former NBA player, has died at the age of 101. Von Nieda died Wednesday in Elizabethtown. Von Nieda played a combined 59 games for the Tri-Cities Blackhawks and Baltimore Bullets in 1949-50. The National Basketball Retired Players Association had given him a certificate last year recognizing him as the first former NBA player to reach 100 years of age. After playing college basketball at Penn State, Von Nieda served in the Army during World War II. He went to paratrooper school and was part of the 17th Airborne Division that took part in the Battle of the Bulge. During that 1949-50 season, Von Nieda averaged 5.3 points and 2.4 assists. He continued playing semipro basketball after the end of his career and participated in Penn State alumni games.
