Raiders re-sign Brandon Marshall to thinning linebacker group
Looking for reinforcements at an extremely thin linebacker position, Oakland looked to their recent past and signed Brandon Marshall on Tuesday. In camp, Marshall, who turned 30 on Sept. 10, was playing with the first-team defense in the Raiders' 4-3 alignment,

Patriots release kicker Mike Nugent, seek replacement
Nugent's release comes after a rain-soaked 27-13 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in which he missed a 34-yard field goal, and a 29-yarder was blocked. It was the first blocked field goal against the Patriots since 2006.

Rams trade CB Aqib Talib, pick to Dolphins
For the winless Dolphins, this move is essentially to buy a draft pick, as Talib is currently on injured reserve. The Rams were looking to dump Talib's salary; there is approximately $4.2 million left on his deal. Talib will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Source: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
The Redskins had held firm to their trade demands for Williams, and sources said his value on the market wasn't what many had expected. They wanted at least a first-round pick or a playmaker, and no offers came close to that.

1. Browns make the playoffs. 2. Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL in TD passes. 3. Nick Chubb leads the NFL in rushing. 4. Lamar Jackson wins NFL MVP. 5. Eagles win NFC East, Cowboys miss playoffs. 6. Seahawks claim Josh Gordon off waivers
For Gordon, it's a fresh start in a place he wants to be after he was released off injured reserve by New England on Thursday. Gordon, who had 20 catches for 287 yards and a touchdown in six games with the Patriots this season, joins a crowded receiver group in Seattle, which was already carrying seven wide receivers on its active roster.

Source: Steelers, Mike Tomlin fined for not disclosing Ben Roethlisberger's injury
The Steelers have been fined $75,000 and coach Mike Tomlin has been fined $25,000 for violating the NFL's Injury Report Policy, a league source confirmed.

Heisman hijacked? Christian McCaffrey miffed, but not at Derrick Henry
The topic of Henry winning the 2015 Heisman Trophy recently came up when Carolina Panthers running backs coach Jake Peetz explained in his meeting room how Nick Saban coached the backs at Alabama. It wasn't a conversation McCraffrey, who finished second to Henry, wanted to join. McCaffrey still believes he should have won the Heisman during his sophomore year at Stanford, when he broke Barry Sanders' NCAA single-season record for all-purpose yards with 3,684.

QB Cam Newton to meet with foot specialist
Frustration over the lack of improvement in what has been described as a mild Lisfranc injury led quarterback Newton to fly to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to meet with specialist Dr. Robert Anderson. Newton has been sidelined since reaggravating the injury, originally suffered during the third preseason game, in a Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay.

OLB Mario Addison out vs. Titans after brother's death
Addison ranks 11th in the NFL in sacks this season with 6.5 for a Carolina team that ranks second in the league in sacks with 30, one behind New England that have played one more game.

20 predictions for the 2020 NFL offseason: QB dominoes, Dak's deal and more

3. Six other teams change coaches

Chicago, Cleveland, Carolina, Jacksonville and both New York teams. Add in Dallas if things bottom out there and Denver if the second half goes south and the Broncos decide to blow up the whole thing.

4. Dak Prescott will become the league's highest-paid player
Prescott's discipline in turning down the Cowboys contract offers has been remarkable, and it sets up the strong possibility that he'll be franchised in March if they can't reach a deal before then.

7. Cam Newton will end up in Denver

Elway's next attempt to fix a quarterback is his boldest since Payton Manning. Carolina releases Newton from the final year of his contract, saving $19.1 million in cap space it can apply to Christain NvCaffrey's new deal, and Elway signs the former MVP for the team that beat Newton in his lone Super Bowl appearance.

10. Christian McCaffrey will reset the running back market
The Panthers have McCaffrey under contract for two more years after 2019. The fourth year of his rookie contract is 2020, and they hold a fifth-year option for 2021.

11. The CBA negotiations will drag on and remain unresolved
The current CBA expires after the 2020 season.

Seattle (27) - San Francisco (24) OT

49ers fall to 8-1 as Seahawks 8-2 squeak by with OT victory....The last of the NFL's unbeatens has fallen. Despite a spirited, fourth-quarter comeback and a wild overtime period, the San Francisco 49ers suffered their first loss of the season Monday night at Levi's Stadium, a 27-24 overtime defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson. And with that, the 1972 Miami Dolphins could celebrate again, as they remain the last NFL team to win a Super Bowl with a perfect record. With the defeat, the Niners became the final team to lose a game this season, dropping to 8-1. They also became just the third team to win its first eight games and lose its first one in overtime in the Super Bowl era.. On a night when the Niners turned the ball over three times and allowed five sacks and 10 quarterback hits, they still had their chances to win the game.

Let's overreact to Week 10 in the NFL: Lamar Jackson is the MVP favorite

It was the second time this season that Jackson posted a perfect passer rating. His 99,7 Total QBR in Sunday;s victory over winless Cincinnati was the highest any quarterback has posted this season -- surpassing his own 99.4 in Week 1 against Miami. Jackson was 15-for-17 (one of the incompletions was an intentional, clock-stopping spike) for 223 yards and three touchdowns, and he added 65 rushing yards and another touchdown on seven carries.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers release CB Vernon Hargraves after benching.
Hargraves, the 11th overall pick in the 2016 draft, was the most experienced CB on the Buc's roster. The organization picked up his fifth-year option for 2020 valued at $9 million. That five-year option was guaranteed for injury only.

The Cincinnati Bengal release LB Preston Brown.
Brown started Cincinnati's first eight games before coming off the bench during Sunday's loss to Baltimore. The Bengals had signed Brown to a three-year, $16.5 million deal in March that included $4.8 million guaranteed. The sixth year player out of Louisville tallied 54 tackles and forced a fumble recovery this seson.

Saints steamrollered by Falcons in biggest upset of season...
Falcons (29) - Saints (9)
Next Game.. New Orleans at Tampa Bay. Atlanta at Carolina

The New Orleans Saints suffered the most improbable loss of the season on Sunday, when they got steamrollered in their own Superdome 26-9 by the riva Atlanta Falcons. It snapped a six-game winning streak for the Saints, who fell to 7-2. And it snapped a six-game losing streak for the Falcons, who are now 2-7. It was the fourth time and the first since 2001 that a team on a losing streak of at least six games beat a team on a winning streak of at least six games. The others came in 1973 and 1948. It was the first time since 2003 that a team with a record of 7-1 or better lost to a team with a record of 1-7 or worse. It snapped the Saints' streak of 110 home games in which they reached double-digits scoring. They were one shy of the NFL record set by the Indianapolis Colts from 1997 to 2011.

Julio Jones caught three passes for 79 yards, including a 54-yarder to set up a field goal for Atlanta, which possessed the ball nearly 34 minutes and rolled up 317 yards. The Falcons were the first Saints opponent since Seattle in Week 3 to gain more than 257 yards. Brees went 32 of 45 for 287 yards and the Saints finished with 310 yards, well below their average of 375.3 coming in. That's despite getting running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Jared Cook back from injuries.Michael Thomas caught 13 passes for 152 yards.
