FLIP GORDON TO CHALLENGE FOR ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AT SUPERCARD OF HONOR
On April 8, 2017, up-and-coming independent wrestler Travis “Flip” Gordon made his Ring of Honor debut in a losing effort against Matt Sydal at the William J. Myers Sports Pavilion in Baltimore. Nearly three years later to the day, Flip Gordon will challenge for the ROH World Championship at Supercard of Honor on April 4 in Lakeland, Fla., during the biggest weekend of the year in pro wrestling. Gordon will face either current champion RUSH or Mark Haskins. Those two will meet in the main event of 18th Anniversary on March 13. ROH fans have watched the native of Kalispell, Mont., go from a clean-cut, wide-eyed youngster to a battle-tested “Mercenary” on the precipice of greatness. Gordon earned his title shot by winning a No. 1 contender’s battle royal at Free Enterprise last month. He wasn’t even supposed to be in the match, but Gordon masqueraded as Dragon Lee to gain entry and then outlasted 19 other competitors. Now Gordon will attempt to win his first major singles championship. He’s determined to bring the ROH World Title back to Villain Enterprises after his teammate PCO lost the belt to RUSH at Gateway To Honor in St. Louis on Feb. 29. Gordon has said he doesn’t care if it’s RUSH or Haskins that he faces at Supercard of Honor, but one has to believe he’d get extra satisfaction out of defeating RUSH. Villain Enterprises and RUSH’s La Faccion Ingobernable have been engaged in a heated rivalry.
