bah stupidity.
Nothing changes if you don't actually leave. Why would people running an organization (any organization be it a BBS or something else) care about any given issue if they know people won't leave? They won't.
What's worse?
#1 Whining about stuff but never leaving.
#2 Leaving until things change.
(Oh and if you guys haven't figured it out by now: The issue goes beyond Hood.)
Oh, I'm sure it does, and I am just now seeing that. But what can we accomplish? Unless we all really intend to leave for good and to let Wodforge die (and maybe most hear really do, but I doubt that) what would we like to see happen there? Lanzsman step down (I would favor that, after all of this) and give/sell the board to...who?
Even if Lanz wanted to give it up, who could buy it and afford to run it?
I almost think it would be better if the board could somehow be member owned with people chipping in donations for operating costs, and people voting on things. (Maybe only peole who donate could vote? Or not...) But the way we all seem to violently argue over there, maybe we need a strong leader figure to keep us in line - but preferably one who's response to an issue isn't just basically "because I said so and I'm the boss."
Thats' bogus.
I have no immediate plans to quit, but - while I have made it known that I am not "picking up the torch" for Hood (or Volpone, or anyone else) - I still intend to use my time there to keep bringing up this issue and raising questions. Not in a disruptive way, but a hopefully insistent one. I can at least do that. Even if it just falls on deaf ears. or Lanz just bans me for it.
I have no illusions that
I will actually sway anyone or acomplish anything, but maybe I can be one vioce in a crowd. I dont think I will accomplish even the tiniest thing by just quitting the board - at least not
yet.
