They're both published by IDW and written by Mike Johnson, yes.
 
HEY the UK release date of Star Trek: Into Darkness has been moved forward to May 9th. So we'll get to complain about it online before AMERICA.
 
^ That's good for you guys! I wonder why? Is it due to Cucumberbatch (& Sherlock 2.0) and STiD's alleged partial London setting? I wonder if it'll have its premier in London?
 
It's probably because of different public holidays or something.

Well it sounds like it'll be action packed and will look very nice, even if we're unsatisfied with other things.
 
Very tempted but I won't read it. Were they positive? I guess the first 28 minutes wouldn't be shown off if it was awful, for the same reason Die Hard 5 wasn't previewed at all.
 
They seem positive about the action and "banter" between characters. Not really much about the quality of the story.

The Guardian reaction is fairly spoiler free (don't think there's anything you can't tell from the trailer or the spoilers for the first nine minutes (if you read those.))

Thanks. Sounds like it's gonna be a big dumb action movie... which is pretty much what we all expected.

Yes, this sure looks like the sequel to the 2009 action-adventure film directed by J.J. Abrams that also happened to be called "Star Trek".
 
What's the ship in the "I really wish I was directing Star Wars...oh wait, I am!?" bit.

The "Spock chasing Harrison jumping on flying cars" bit did remind me of Anakin chasing Zam Wessell from Episode 2...
 
More like Han Solo's Yacht.
 
If its anything like most of the other ships in this movie, it may actually be an ocean going captain's yacht.
