BTW, the starship Franklin from STB lends even more weight to the idea that the JJVerse was an alternate reality before Nero even showed up.
(Or, put another way, the creative team behind these films never really wanted to make Star Trek films -- they just grabbed a nameplate and glued it on their generic sci-fi.)

It was something from around the same period, anyway. I think it fit in very well with the existing universe.
Then why the blue caps on the warp engines? That wasn't a thing in any version of Star Trek outside the Abramsverse. Which is what leads me to say, Abramsverse was an alternate reality regardless of Nero.
Didn't even say it was a problem. In fact, it's sort of a relief. The JJVerse was never at any point in its timeline the Prime universe, anyway.
