Star Trek Discovery

Have they modified the ship to not look like a six-abomination clusterfuck? Because the Ralph McQuarrie -inspired steaming pile of goose shit we saw in the teaser is going to doom the show to one season, if that one season even makes it a full go before cancellation.

If that happens, I will be seriously pissed that CBS killed Axanar to puke up yet another abortion of a "prequel" series that they refuse to make an actual prequel series of. Enterprise was enough of that crap. If they don't want to make a prequel, they should leave it to a creative team, 'amateur' or not, who does want to do it right.

Are the uniforms going to be dull blue/gray like ENT? Part of ENT's problem was that it lacked color, unlike all the other shows. Gotta have those flashes of red, blue and gold so you can make out the heroes from the soccerball-head villains.

ENT's biggest problem was that it was hyped as a prequel to TOS, and then spent 3 seasons obstinately not being a prequel to TOS.

Until that finale episode when Archer created the Federation in 15 minutes, and Riker and Troi looked like bloated death in their age-masking makeup.

It looks increasingly like this is Enterprise 2.0.

Not one but two ships, now, that don't fit the pre-TOS/TOS design lineage. And yet another "never before seen" species (which in a prequel also means "never seen after" species). Just Enterprise all over again, a "prequel" that's just generic spaceships-and-aliens SF that was never meant to have any connection to Star Trek beyond the nameplate, which is the bare minimum it takes to plonk asses in seats for the pilot.

They should've revisited the Assignment Earth concept for a new Star Trek series. (The back door pilot/season 2 TOS finale)

Unfortunately, there's so many shows with a similar concept on the air right now it probably wouldnt stick out much. Perhaps the concept is a little too Dr.Who-ish. They did a decent comic book version of what would've been the Assignment Earth TV series for IDW about 10 years ago. It was set in the 60's, and took place before, and after the TV episode.

I don't know, it would be something different for Star Trek. It would have to be cheaper production wise than the outer space/spaceship stuff. But, would anyone want to watch a Star Trek series that mostly takes place on Earth?

Too many alpha nerds had a problem with DS9 taking place on a space station (especially B5 alpha nerds), let alone a show set on Earth.

It could be a workplace sitcom called Star Trek: McKinley Station, and have the main crew be the slacker Starfleet guys who steer the ships into their docks. Maybe they are in a bowling league.

I just thought people didn't like DS9 because it was boring.

I just thought people didn't like DS9 because they were dumb and ignorant.

Same idiots that didn't like B5. (I was initially one of those, didn't start watching until Season 3)
