Looks like they were going for a vibe like the TNG episode "Family" episode after BOBW (Miyazaki), to give us more background on the cadets. With a little Breakfast Club thrown in.

Not much meat on the bone story-wise. Cocky guy was gonna be Prince Philip but nah. Gay Klingon boy is gay. Tarima better recover quick or Caleb & Genesis may start canoodling and then feeling guilty about it for a whole season.

I find I enjoy this show more when I forget it's a Trek show.

It was a little dull, especially compared to last week.

I feel like they tried to let us get to know the characters without really telling us much about them.
