Strange New Worlds season 2

To be continued... :rwmad:

I thought it was a good and exciting episode, but I really don't understand the Gorn.

Solid, though not quite hitting the same levels as S2's best. I do not find the Gorn a particularly interesting antagonist. I hope the S3 premiere wraps things up on that front and we can move on.

Might not be a 10 / 10 episode, but it's a 10 / 10 season. I enjoyed every episode, to varying degrees.

So far as season 3, it was renewed with filming due to begin (at least before the strikes hit).

Anyway, that's it for Star Trek for the foreseeable future I guess!

I think next season they'll "cure" these mindless murderer Gorn somehow and the ones from TOS (who are also jerks) will take over.

Not really a dud in the entire season.

The worst episode of the whole series was the child sacrifice one in season one, and even that was like 5/10 and not total shit 1/10 like Wesley Crusher being sentenced to death for standing on grass or whatever. Everything in season 2 was at least 6/10 at worst!

Yeah, they need to move them beyond mindless screechy CGI monster as. i) it's not that interesting and ii) becomes increasingly hard to reconcile with their apparent technological capability.

I think it likely The Gorn threat doesn't escalate and some understanding (albeit limited) is achieved.

Also, while I dig SNW's overall tone, I am up for a new, compelling antagonist with some smarts - and not a callback to TOS.

SEASON RANKING (not looking up episode titles)

1) The Lower Decks crossver episode. PEAK TV.
2) Una on trial.
3) M'Benga murders Klingon episode (could swap 2 and 3 really!)
4) Human Spock in hat episode.
5) Uhura goes mad episode.
6) Everyone forgets stuff episode.
7) Finale.
8) Time travel La'an/Kirk episode though maybe I'd like it more if I watched it again.
9) Musical, sorry.
10) Season opener (AND IT WAS FINE.)

Not really sure about any of that except the top four the opener being the worst to be honest.

I would rank the musical a whole lot higher than you did but fair play. It reminded me a lot of Buffy's Once More With Feeling, so it might be kind of a nostalgia thing. Otherwise I'd say you're on point.

I agree with Wacky's top #3 - can't be arsed thinking about the rest. They were all good to varying degrees. I would probably put the season opener last as well (I mean, Akiva Goldsman was in the writing credits).

Oddly enough I think Goldsman has been doing pretty well with this show, and I don't like him at all. Or not him, but his previous work has been kind of shit. What's the thing about a stopped clock? ;)
