Strange New Worlds season 2

I ALMOST FELL BACKWARDS OUT OF MY CHAIR LAUGHING WITH THE KLINGONS.

omg

It's a solid recliner too.

Also, this had better not be curtains on Spock and Christine.

Being from the UK I accociate big daddy with a very fat wrestler in a leotard.

Looking forward to seeing the episode soon.

That was great. Probably the single best episode for Uhura in all of Trek, I actually care about her now.

They didn't fall into the bad musical episode trap of "singing for singing's sake", they were really effective at using the music to give us character beats for most of the main cast, I'm impressed with them.

The Klingon captain was played by the same actor who played Hemmer!

I wondered why his name was in the cast at the end

I thought I would have liked it more, given how much I like Mamma Mia and Grease , but to me the songs were the worst part of the episode with really repetitive lyrics.

The stuff that happened between the songs were better for me, cannon watchers should like the Korby and Carol references.

I liked it fine I guess? I had no problem with the premise, with reality changing and everything turning into a musical. Great; go nuts! I have enjoyed tv musical episodes before. But the songs just weren't that good here? Like there were definitely fun moments in them and I definitely thought "this person is good at singing" (Uhura being the best) but...they were all so samey? A bit basic? They went on too long and I actually got bored during some of them. They didn't really do much in the way of interesting choreography either (it was nice when the ships were spinning around at the end.) The obvious point of comparison is the Buffy musical and man stuff like 'Under Your Spell' and 'Rest In Peace' and 'Where Do We Go From Here?' (and the rest really!) were lightyears ahead of anything here. Maybe I expected too much.

I guess M'Benga's actor was the Alyson Hannigan as he only sung like two lines. I kind of expected Pelia to sing more too, I just assumed Carol Kane can sing for some reason!

The Kligon bit was great but they weren't even onscreen for half of it! An odd choice!

Agreed on the stuff between the songs. I don't like musicals, so getting through this episode was a pain.

It very much reminded of that Buffysode. Not a bad thing.

It was pretty good but far from the best of the season? Maybe I'm just feeling down since we won't get season 3 until 2025 (assuming they don't cancel it like Discovery.)

April is all like "well the Gorn only attacked the planet not us so don't do anything!" but they also destroyed two Starfleet ships. That's bad! Do something!

Chapel being the sole survivor of the destroyed ship out of pure luck was silly, but I guess Trek does that kind of thing all the time.

The Alien/Aliens rip-offs are getting even more shameless.

New Scotty actor seemed good (and actually Scottish!) but also far too young? He's supposed to older than Kirk! This guy's 11 years younger than Paul Wesley! Maybe he ends up on one of those weird planets where time moves faster.

I liked that the gorn in the spacesuit has a big armoured spacesuit tail.

This was pretty damn good. Not really a dud in the entire season. Can't say I'm a fan of the cliffhanger ending though, not knowing if it's ever coming back with the strikes and all.
