Bob was celebrating turning 18 by watching his first 18 certificate film, die hard, which was easily the highlight of 1988, a year that had seen him leave school, get a job, and buy the ultimate in computing power, the commodore amiga.
On leaving the cinema and entering the cool autumn night Bob was near the bus station and by luck the bus home was right there, he started to walk towards it, but the sound of come on Eileen was wafting out of a nearby club, along with a bunch of smoke from all the cigs being smoked by the patrons, the smell was revolting, but there was a girl outside the spitting image of Michelle Pfiffer.
And she was looking at him.
Does Bob go to the bar, or go home?
On leaving the cinema and entering the cool autumn night Bob was near the bus station and by luck the bus home was right there, he started to walk towards it, but the sound of come on Eileen was wafting out of a nearby club, along with a bunch of smoke from all the cigs being smoked by the patrons, the smell was revolting, but there was a girl outside the spitting image of Michelle Pfiffer.
And she was looking at him.

Bob walked to the bar, the cat woman lookalike was still staring at him.
"alright love" Bob said to her, trying to suppress his broad Yorkshire accent.
"hey handsome" she replied.
Bob looked behind him to see if she was talking to someone else, but there was no one there, this perfect woman, this godess in human form was talking to him, this wad better than solving a rubix cube in less than twenty moves, this was better than manic miner, this was basic human contact.
"what are you doing after you finish your fag?" Bob asked.
The girl reached into her pocket and pulled out a couple of pills, and a small slab of something that looked like black glass.
"I'm going to pop an e and take some nude selfies on my phone, want to join me?" she replied.
Bob's mind was reeling, a phone was a thing you had in your house, or what yuppies had in a briefcase sized box in their car, it wasn't some thin five inch sized slab.
But that aside the sexiest person he has seen in real life said something about nudity, and while his brain had doubts, the thing pressed against his trousers wanted to know more.
Should he leave, or take one of the pills?

Bob took the pill from the girl, and when she briefly closed her eyes to swallow her own pill, he pocketed his, then pretended to swallow.
The girl kept glancing at the thing in her hand that she had called a phone.
"what is that thing, some kind of black mirror?" he asked.
She smiled, her eyes distant now, "where I come from its a phone, a camera, a camcorder, a computer, a games machine, a radio, and it holds ten thousand songs."
Bob wondered just how many drugs this girl had done, but he didn't want to leave no matter how crazy she sounded.
"can I see it?" he asked.
"the battery is dead and I left my charger in 2019." she replied, her body swaying with the music of wham.
"you're from the future?" he asked incredulously.
"yes, want to see it?" she asked holding her open hand out to him.
Should he take it or leave.?

Bob took the girls hand, and she led him into a dark alley behind the pub, as they approached the wall at the end, there was a shimmering of the air, and suddenly it was daylight, and it felt like summer.
"Trippy isn't it?" the girl asked.
Bob stood there in shock, then they walked back out the alley and the town was different, the bus station and cinema was gone, and in its place a shopping mall, and a hotel.
Bob was finding it hard to take it all in, as they approached a shop full of tvs, bigger than he had ever seen, super clear and screens that seemed to be only an inch wide.
On all the screens was the millennium falcon looking more realistic than he had ever seen.
"They made more star wars?,"
"more than you'd think" she replied.
"if I walk back down that alley will I be back in 1988?"
"Only if your with me, do you want to go back, or come with me?
The choice is yours

"So now I know about the celebrity pedophiles, when I go back I can get them arrested and warn America about 911."
"You can't change the past, if you try something will stop you, I just go back for the music, and to buy things to put on ebay."
"What's ebay, is it like that bookface thing?"
"It's not important Bob, you have travelled in time, now do you want to go to space?"
