You might be right on that last point (... In particular). Both the sound and blood on the camera felt really out of place, as if they were afterthoughts.
I liked some aspects of the episode. It's always interesting when they go on a bit of a road trip and we get to see other groups, even if, despite the surely low numbers of survivors from the initial outbreak and the fact that they're in what was already a rural area, they don't seem to be able to go anywhere without bumping into someone or finding a fresh zombie.
Happy to see more of Carol, too, after last week's ending made it seem like we'd have a long wait. Not much cooler than someone who's so badass that she scares herself and genuinely feels the need to warn people to back off for their own safety.
The ending didn't provoke much reaction in me. Partly because everyone's been saying for a while now that Norman Reedus is leaving, partly because Darryl's actually got kind of dull lately, but mostly because we've come to expect "shock" endings and cliffhangers. I'd be more shocked if there wasn't a "shock" death/shoulder injury once per episode. I wish they'd focus more on making characters interesting based on how they live, than how they die.
