Star Trek IV was on tv this morning and I watched the last half hour or so and it was delightful as usual. It made me wonder why so many subsequent movie attempted to copy Wrath of Khan instead of it, considering it made the most at the box office before JJ came along? It's so nice and good-hearted with the most violent thing happening being Spock nerve-pinching Kirk Thatcher on a bus. It even has Starfleet being nice at the end(!) and everyone cheering our heroes for saving the Earth before rewarding them with a new Enterprise. It's nice!
The dialog in ST: IV: The One With The Whales. And probably the casting of the whale girl. The scenes with her and Shat are just great. "We don't want to be an imposition." "You've already been that." The whole scene in the pizza restaurant. Just great.
