Three Seahawks Earn NCAA Southeast Regional Berths​


A trio of UNCW cross country runners - Nash Mills and Griffen Wald on the men's team along with Summer Herbertson on the women's team - punched their ticket to the NCAA Southeast Regional with strong finishes at 2023 Coastal Athletic Conference Association Championships on Friday morning at the Pole Green Park. The Seahawk women placed ninth out of 13 teams in the 6k race, which was won for the fifth straight time by Elon. The UNCW men posted a seventh-place finish among 11 league squads in the 8k race that was topped by Stony Brook for the second straight year. "We're super excited for our three regional qualifiers this year," said UNCW Head Coach Jeff Klaves. "Nash and Griffin are the first regional qualifiers on the men's side in my tenure and it continues to speak to the youth and ability of our rising men's program. On the women's side, Summer is our second straight NCAA qualifier and it just continues to show what's possible and when you put in the work in, great things can happen.

Seahawks Conclude Play at Landfall Tradition​


The UNCW women's golf team, along with 17 other schools, concluded play at the Landfall Tradition on Sunday afternoon at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course. Duke (286-286-271=843) won its fifth Landfall Tradition championship by virtue of a tiebreaker (fifth player's third round score) over Clemson (285-286-272=843). Furman's Anna Morgan finished 14-under par in the three-day event to claim individual medalist honors. UNCW (299-299-290=888) was led by fifth year Mallory Fobes (71-72-72=215), who finished tied for 29th place. The Seahawks closed out their fall calendar in 17th place. Senior Nicole Adam (71-74-71=216) totaled 16 birdies this weekend, one off Morgan and Illinois' Isabel Sy for the tournament lead.

Seahawks Begin Woods Era on Tuesday​


The UNCW women's basketball team tips off the Nicole Woods era on Tuesday at 6 p.m. vs. the Apprentice School at Trask Coliseum. Tuesday marks the first meeting between the Seahawks and Builders. The Apprentice School, located in Newport News, Va., is a full member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and competes in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference. The Builders went 15-8 last season in their first year under Head Coach Courtney Collins. Apprentice earned a spot in the USCAA Division I Small College National Championships where they lost in the Quarterfinals.The Seahawks represent the first Division I opponent in the history of the Apprentice women's basketball program.

Defending CAA Champs Announce 2024 Schedule​


Featuring 19 games against programs that played in the 2023 regionals, UNCW Head Coach Randy Hood, who begins his fifth season leading the program, has announced the schedule for the 2024 season. The defending Coastal Athletic Association regular season and conference tournament champions have 32 home games on the schedule. Season tickets are also available for renewal beginning Nov. 16. Season ticket holders should check their email for more information. The deadline to renew is December 12th. Current season tickets holders just need to renew their 2023 seats.

The Seahawks open the season hosting perennial Mid-America Conference power Kent State in a three-game series beginning on Feb. 16. Coastal Athletic Association play begins with the Seahawks hosting longtime rival Elon on Mar. 22. UNCW will play eight games against regional teams at Brooks Field in 2024 beginning with Boston College in a midweek test on Mar. 5. Other NCAA regional teams visiting Brooks Field include North Carolina, East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, NC State and Campbell.

Badrian Named CAA Diver of the Week​


Reigning Coastal Athletic Association champion and diver of the year Ethan Badrian closed out his fall season with diver of the week honors the league announced on Tuesday. Badrian swept the 1 and 3-meter boards last week at the Patriot Invitational. He scored an NCAA B cut 315.65 points in winning the 1-meter and then turned around and fashioned a winning score of 363.30 points on the 3-meter for the win and another NCAA B cut. The Seahawks next return to competition on Jan. 13, 2024, when they host Davidson.
