What film did you recently see ? Do not forget to rate it

There's only so many ways you can watch movies blow up famous landmarks before you stop caring. Movies have forgotten how to add character and plotting to the story in favor of special effects.

Just watched "Paul." Some parts are a little irritating, others are a little childish -- overall, though, a nice lighthearted little comedy. 8/10.

Sucker Punch
Just got back from this movie and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

In a way, it seems the movie was made for the boys. The girls are really good looking and running around in skimpy clothes, high heels, and lots of makeup complete with false eyelashes. There are definitely elements of comics and martial arts films repleat with monsters, sword play, and explosions. The female characters can leap tall buildings and take a heck of a beating. Nerd fantasy for sure.

Overall, the movie is visually interesting - up to a point. It seems the film maker knew this and just about the time his schtick became too much schtick, the story elevated.

I liked some of the underlying themes even though they were handled in a nerdy, fantasy, immature sort of way. Its the thought that counts and if some people can grasp the meaning delivered in that format, then it is all good.

For Consumer: you might want to put this on your movie rental list. Girls in little, short school girl outfits prancing around with their big eyelashes and big heels. You might get caught up in psychoanalyzing the interaction between the sexes though.

Note: The girl that played Rocket would make a great Link from the Zelda games.

Source Code

This is science fiction as it was meant to be. Not just running around fighting aliens and shooting things with new fangled weapons. Interesting new technology, yes, but it shines and light on humanity, and what we will and won't do. Good science fiction should always be more about the characters, the souls, than it is about the technology.

8/10

Just watched a documentary about Deep Throat and the birth of the porn industry. It was way more interesting even to someone who grew up with connections to that world, and there was a lot of stuff I didn't know. As a political piece it's fascinating as hell how the rise and fall of that film was directly linked to the political climate of the time and all the various behind the scenes shit that went on both in government and organized crime. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the sexual revolution, civil rights movements, feminism, the Nixon era, or boobehs.

9 out of 10. Easy.

But of course you were interested in anything to do with the porn industry. You are thankful to them for getting you through a lonely, fuckless life. They give you the ability to watch OTHERS fuck, whilst you jerk off and just imagine what could have been if you were not such a loser. Next, you'll be telling everyone how Sun sent YOU a picture of herself too. Bitch is so easy, she sent me one and literally begged me to cyber with her. I laughed, and basically told her to fuck off. You, of course, would be slobbering like a sad little fuck, begging for her crumbs she throws your way.

Oscar edition:

Black Swan

Natalie should win the Oscar. And Barbara Hershey looks GREAT, thank you! But the movie is a silly mess. We know what the 'twist' is 10 minutes into the movie, and just mark time from that point waiting for the inevitable 'arty' conclusion. It was a good short film that got stretched out to a sloppy feature.

.

What "twist"?

Hannah

Hmmm... hmmm.... hmmm...

As I was leaving the theater after the movie was over I heard people talking about how much they did not like the movie.

I can understand why they didn't. The scenes intended to illustrate how different Hannah's every day experiences are compared to the rest of us pretty much bombed. The time in between the really good action scenes meant to relay the awakening of Hannah don't really do that but comes off as fairly weak filler to make the story feature film length.

Still, this movie had some elements that I really liked. First, some of the scenery is stunning. Second, the girl that plays Hannah is very interesting to look at and the pairing of her with Cate Blanchett in this movie is some excellent casting on a visual level. Third, the fight scenes were more plausible. Yes, they were still over the top in some ways, but the persons in the scenes are known to be highly trained and skilled killers. Even the girl who is only about 15 years of age has been raised her entire life to be a killer. She is every bit as awesome as the girl in Kick Ass, just not so comic book. Finally, I liked that the dialogue was important in order to understand the point of this movie. I like a story that has words in it and not just grunting and blowing stuff up.

So, I won't give this movie an A but I will give it a B and suggest it be seen at the lesser cost of a matinee or watched on DVD/Netflix this summer when it is burning hot outside and a little snow would be nice.

Your Highness

I wasn't expecting a blockbuster but I was certainly expecting something better than this.

Natalie Portman, James Franco, costumes, wizards, magic, etc. The production values were excellent. The storyline was okay. What ruined this movie? Beavis and Butthead wannabes wrote the dialogue and thought up the sight gags.

This will be an entirely different movie when it is edited to show on TV. It might be better or there will be a lot of bleeping. It isn't worth the price of a matinee or a rental. Its sad really. I'm depressed now. That is an hour and a half I'll never get back that I could have spent doing something else - like taking out the trash, washing dishes, listening to Wing on YouTube.

I really wanted to like it but it was the worst movie I've seen in a very long time. Grade F.

On the other hand, I enjoyed it for what it was, stupid juvenile humor, and the kid loved it. It ain't Shakespeare but you kinda know that going in if you watched the trailer.

Thor

OMG - saw this in IMAX 3D this afternoon. IMAX 3D is awesome. The sound rumbled the floors and the seats and the walls. It was great.

I don't know much about Thor the comic book so I didn't have any expectations going in. I like Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth.

The scenery was awesome. The costumes were awesome. The sound was awesome. The action was awesome. When Natalie Portman kissed Chris Hemsworth my toes curled!

Wait until after all the credits because there is a little clip of The Avengers at the very end and it is pretty good.

Rate it A+ and a little more. I might go see it again.

Ah, a good rating for a movie which relied on CANADIAN technology to get such a score, yes? You are welcome. Every time you visit an IMAX theatre, remember me, and imagine yourself kissing my fucking CANADIAN ass in thanks for the technology.
