How come they can have Sally smoking on Mad Men but not adults smoking (because Mad Men's cable but not the kind of cable that has nudity and lots of swearing?)
 
I think they did show adults smoking on Mad Men.
 
Everyone smokes on Mad Men. I remember an interview with Matt Weiner long ago, where he said he had to fight the network to keep in all the smoking, because it was period-accurate. And many of the actors have talked about having to smoke fake herbal cigarettes in every scene.

I guess it's easier to try to erase smoking from present-day entertainment because smoking is at an all-time low in the world.
