Hey TV.com, Should I Watch Syfy's Bananapants Legion Sequel Dominion? - TV.com

Dominion? Someone's making a TV show about that card game?

Well, not quite. Syfy's Dominion is related to another pop-culture product, but not a notable card game. Nope, instead this series is more or less a sequel to the 2010 film Legion, about the angel Michael joining up with humans to defend us from an attacking crew of angels led by Gabriel. The movie starred Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki, Dennis Quaid, and Kevin Durand, and if you haven't seen it (and even if you have, because it's not like it was particularly memorable), it ended with Michael (Bettany) scaring off Gabriel and chattering about the importance of a baby and the mysterious tattoos on Jeep's (Black) body. CUT TO: 25 years later, after the Michael-Gabriel showdown—this is where Dominion begins. Some remaining human survivors are hunkered down in Las Vegas (now known as Vega). Michael is still hanging around as some sort of watcher, but society has been rebooted with more military power, more financial inequality, and a full-blown caste system. Throw in a half-dozen weird stories and a slew of different characters, and you have a flaming cocktail of crazy.

Who are the survivors, and who is guiding this world in the aftermath of the angel apocalypse?

Dominion's story was adapted by Vaun Wilmott, but former Smallville, Alphas, and Defiance producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer joined the production at some point post-pilot, which was helmed by Legion director Scott Stewart. The cast is topped by Christopher Egan (Kings), who plays Alex Lannon, an orphan who receives some societal privileges thanks to his role in Vega's military guard. Tom Wisdom (300, Pirate Radio) takes over for Bettany as Michael, and Langley Kirkwood (Black Sails and Strike Back) serves as Lucas Black's replacement as Jeep. TV viewers will recognize Alan Dale (The O.C., Lost, every other thing) and Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as General Risen and David Whele, respectively; they're two white dudes with conflicting thoughts on how to help Vega move forward.

ALAN DALE!! lol

Okay, I don't expect anyone will want to go out of their way to watch this. Since I will already be watching TV and there's never anything on Thursday nights, I will most likely watch it, unless it's horrible... but if it's horrible in a good way, like so bad it's funny or something, I will watch it.

If by some UNLIKELY chance this is actually good, I will let y'all know. From that tv.com article I get the impression that the pilot is not very good.

There are two attractive ladies, and a couple attractive men, but THE CHOSEN ONE looks like Prince Charming from Once Upon a Time. The acting is also pretty bad, even Alan Dale is bad... but Anthony Stewart Head is really terrible in this.

Check Out the First Trailer for Syfy's 12 Monkeys (VIDEO) - TV.com

Syfy has released the first trailer for its upcoming time-traveling drama 12 Monkeys, which is slated to debut in January 2015 and is being billed as a reimagining of the 1995 film of the same name and not a complete remake. The series stars Aaron Stanford (Nikita), Noah Bean (Nikita), Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), and Amanda Schull (Suits) and follows a man (Stanford) from the future who travels back to the present day to eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

This could be good. If it is, SyFy will cancel it :rwmad:

OH yeah, and also -

Syfy is finally getting back to sci-fi basics with two of its upcoming projects, the space drama Ascension and the time-traveling 12 Monkeys. Ascension was ordered as a six-episode miniseries but could potentially run for multiple seasons, similar to the network's popular series Battlestar Galactica—and coincidentally starring BSG's Tricia Helfer. 12 Monkeys is a re-imagining of Terry Gilliam's 1995 film of the same name, about a man from the future who travels back to the present day to eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

Ascension, which is set to premiere Monday, November 24, was inspired by the real-life Project Orion that existed under President John F. Kennedy. The series follows a covert space mission that began in 1963 when hundreds of men, women, and children embarked on a century-long voyage to populate a new world known as Proxima. When the travelers are nearly 50 years into their journey and approaching the point of no return, the murder of a young woman aboard their starship—the first homicide since their departure—causes them to question the true nature of their mission.

I don't think there's a trailer for Ascension yet.

SORRY, I even knew from the comments on the review site that it wouldn't play internationally but I forgot. :rwmad:

That looks pretty bad. Like Fargo worked as a series because it was another story in the same universe as the movie, rather than a remake. And it had really good actors and direction. Maybe it'll somehow end up good though!

Gotham starts tonight. I can't remember if we're all going to watch this or not. OH ALSO SLEEPY HOLLOW TONIGHT YAY.

PROBABLY START A NEW THREAD ABOUT IT TOO. AND ONE FOR SHIELD SEASON TWO OR BUMP THE OLD SHIELD THREAD I DON'T KNOW. FUCK.

I don't like Under the Dome any more. The first season it was just so terrible it was funny, but the second season was too terrible to be funny anymore. AND ALSO, I tried The Blacklist because I love James Spader but I lost interest in it.

Yeah I don't know if I'll watch Under the Dome next season. With the cliffhanger from the season finale I don't know how they'll stretch it out for another whole season. They killed off so many main characters in the finale.

I watched part of the pilot. I have the 2nd episode saved.

I like the premise, but I was surprised how humorless they made Voila Davis' character. Maybe I missed the funny scenes, but in the ones I saw she was somber and overdramatic. I have to watch the whole thing from the beginning again.

She is playing an intense character, I've seen both episodes and she is rather humorless. I am not hooked on the show, I'm not sure if I'm going to like it, but I'm going to watch a few more times. It seems like the kind of show I might like eventually once it gets going. It's a bit soapy, though.
