Star Trek Discovery

I am impressed by your knowledge of mutiny!

I have spent all these years not being bothered by some of the silly stuff ST uses to move the story along. They could have called it insubordination or something, but I'm guessing that wouldn't carry enough weight to get her kicked out of Star Fleet. They needed her to be in that dire circumstance so whatshisname could get her on the Discovery, I guess. They could have gone all out and made it a real mutiny, but that would have stained her character more (the character's character lol). We're supposed to know that she is a loyal officer of Star Fleet, and the actions she took were what she truly believed were for the good. Maybe they will get past everyone calling her a mutineer and we can begin to forget about it.

Hey what do you know? A half decent episode. The guy they brought back is bound to be a double agent though right? I mean he was literally sleeping with the enemy.

Bonus points for star treks 1st male gay couple and the word fucking

Yeah that was definitely the best episode. It had the best character stuff. It looked really movie quality too.

Rainn Wilson is a good actor but there's no reason his character had to be Harry Mudd (other than to make people think "I remember him!")

The scenes with the Klingon Captain would have been a lot better if she wasn't so restricted by the make-up.

I’ve enjoyed all the episodes but this was my favourite. There were quite a few parts where I thought it was getting predictable, only for them to do something I didn’t expect (I assumed Michael would take the bio-stuff injection to redeem her character, and instead it was the dickhead).

Saru is such a well played character. It’s amazing how much nuance the actor gets through the makeup.

I still don’t like Klingons, but at least this one spoke English. Presumably the captain will be back (and we’ll know it’s her because she has a massive scar).

The fucking took me by surprise.

The Klingon ship was referred to as D7 class, which is what the completely different looking ships in TOS were known as. So it was a case of making a cute reference to the original show while also wallpapering over it.

Space gays. I do approve. Was there actually anything odd about squinty blond guy’s reflection in the mirror, or did you only know he was evil because of the music? I noticed his toothbrush was on the wrong side a couple of times but I think that was just a continuity error.

I thought that there were two of him! Maybe taking the spore dna stuff made him split.

I love Saru, I love that his neck thingies come out even before Michael comes into the room. lol

I think maybe the spores actually exist in the Mirror Universe or something.

Remember when Saru was the lead Genteman on Buffy.

Didn't like this week's episode much. The Sarek stuff is just a rehash of the Sarek/Spock stuff but with a human woman instead. What's the point? How about doing something new? Didn't like the scene where they did some incomprensible technobabble thing with Sarek's Katra. Remember how mysterious the Katra was in Star Trek 3? Now it's just something you can manipulate by reversing the polarity or whatever.

So Sarek was about to walk into a trap? Sarek's dumb now? Don't care about Admiral Sex Buddy either.

"Hahaha we're just blatantly showing a holodeck to stick it to the nerds!" - Discovery writers

Oh I knew the sex Admiral was in trouble as soon as the captain sent her in Sarek's place... well really as soon as she said something about him stepping down.

Well, yeah. They keep saying it's not a reboot but keep demonstrating through the visuals that it is one. The fact that they think we're stupid enough to fall for that makes them the stupid ones.

I like how the extremis Vulcan could carry out his conversation as normal even with parts of his body already hot enough to glow.

Picked up for season 2!

I know you guys all seem to hate it, but I enjoy it even though it's not really Star Trek.

I don't hate it yet, mostly because I still haven't watched anything but the pilot LOL. I haven't even watched the gaysex episode yet. It's difficult to get excited about it when I lost interest in Enterprise and the new movies are so different and then BBC America is running TNG and VOY marathons whenever they aren't showing Doctor Who or Graham Norton.
