Star Wars: Rebels

Also they had Space Worms like in my Episode 8 script. So obviously this cartoon that takes months to animate stole an idea I wrote two days ago.

The Old Master...

Darth Maul, right? Sounded like Sam Witwer.

Here's the youtube version to analyse.

The new episode was pretty much the usual Rebels "good but could have been better" Rebels standard. There wouldn't really be much to say without Leia and she was...okay. She had some good moments. But she did not sound like a fiften year old girl. She did not sound the same age as Ezra. I thought they would try to show what a younger Leia would be like but she was pretty much original trilogy Leia.

I liked this episode overall. I thought the battle scene with the Ghost attacking the AT-ATs looked really neat.

On the Rebel's Recon you can see that they have a giant picture of Padmé on the wall in the Lucasfilm offices and that's amazing.

SABINE EPISODE NEXT WEEK????

This episode was very good! The battle at the start was very cool and showing Hera injured really made it feel more important than usual. Kanan and Sabine were a better team than Kanan and Ezra (and notice how an episode without Ezra is the best one they've done for ages.) And it was a much better character episode for Sabine than the bounty hunter one a few months ago.

Yeah I agree about this both being very good and about the lack of Ezra also being a good thing. It's not that Ezra's bad, it's just a lot of the characters who don't get as much screen time as him are more interesting. Like Sabine!

I feel like, as with most of the episodes this season, this episode felt like it was over only just as it got started. Had this been Clone Wars this would have been part one of a four-parter where Fenn Rau learns about the Rebellion and leaves the Empire. But here it's just like "You captured me, but the episode is over so you win now!".

Also this week's issue of the Kanan comic was about Kanan and Fenn Rau at the battle of Mygeeto, so that was some nice synergy.

In this week's Rebel's Recon Chopper watches a Droid snuff film and ~Andi wears glasses~

Yeah this episode sure looked and sounded pretty, but it was really weird that they spent the whole episode getting to the planet, and when they eventually get there you never see it and Zeb just says "Oh yeah there's a whole bunch of other guys on there HOW LUCKY".

In this week's Rebel's Recon, Andi from StarWars.com plays a video game.

Better than the planet looking exactly like Lothal, I guess.

They've certainly mastered the "some good visuals/completely mediocre forgettable story" formula. I'm guess all the exciting stuff from the trailer will happen in the last two episodes of the season.

Maybe it's unfair but Ezra's voice acting seems noticably worse than the rest of the cast?

Yeeeeahhhhhh it's good that they got more episodes this season but I kind of wish they'd do more with them.

At least Andi from StarWars.com is still wearing good t-shirts.

I thought this week's was above average for Rebels. It still had the "guest character helps our crew with a mission, everything is wrapped up in twenty minutes" formula but the character stuff with Hera and her dad was pretty good and the voice acting was great from Hera. And we got Chopper's backstory!

Yeah I liked this one a lot too. Hera hasn't really had a lot of character development (especially compared to Kanan and Ezra) so it was good to actually explore her character here.

IT WAS GOOD TO SEE NUMA AGAIN.

In this week's Rebel's Recon Andi gets her own office AT LAST.

Is the Chopper who lives in the StarWars.com office the same Chopper from Rebels are did they create a droid themselves with the exact same brain patterns as the original Chopper?

I've never really liked Zeb. I get that he's supposed to be using humour to hide his inner pain, but they never really do a good job of showing his inner pain so he just comes across as a fully grown adult doing stupid shit with a fifteen year old boy. So this was definitely the best episode for him! He wasn't annoying! Kalus hasn't really had much of a character up until now and I was surprised they went all the way to making him actually sympathetic. Normally they wouldn't do that with Imperials (since we have to cheer when they get blown up) so I'll be interested to see if it's leading somewhere. I'm sure they were inspired by that TNG episode with Geordi and the Romulan...

The fight at the start was good again with the walkers and I always like it when two droids fight each other.

Life being wiped out on Geonosis is consistant with the Darth Vader comic OF COURSE.

So yeah this was definitely one of the best of the season.

I too also liked this episode. Yeah that battle at the start was really good.

It also looks like next week's will actually have some actual plot in it, which will be nice. A preview of which you can watch in this week's episode of the Andi Gutierrez T-Shirt Show:

This one was mostly very good. The Inquisitors actually did something useful (and it was funny having SMG and FPJ doing some weird flirting), all the Jedi vision quest stuff was very good, especially the Ahsoka/Anakin part (interesting that she said she saw him right before he rushed off to save the Chancellor.) But holy shit did Yoda look awful. His mouth was just scary. Why didn't they just make him look LIKE YODA?
