The Hobbit The Hobbit THE HOBBIT

Shite, it does look like a wee red lobster.

Better angle:

I'm sure it'll be brilliant.

That poster on the other hand... it's really badly done. Is that official or fan made?

Everything looks good except that really shit part with Legolas sliding. Fuck Legolas.

A few ropey bits of character animation, but they're probably not done with the effects yet. Otherwise looks really good. Evangeline Lily's English/Elvish accent sounds good.

Enjoyed that. The barrel scene looks excellent and nicely trailed.

I am going to thoroughly enjoy Ken Stott (Balin) in this and Sylvester McCoy also looks good value again.

I rewatched The Hobbit today. I think I pretty much agree with what I posted after I first watched it (I'm not going back to read that post though.)

Still think it should have been two movies.
The first hour is a bit slow. The Frodo/Old Bilbo stuff seem even worse on rewatch and I can't believe PJ didn't just think "hang on, I should leave this for the EE" at any point.
I like Sylvester McCoy as Radagast and everything he does up until smoke comes out of his ears after another "PIPE WEED IS LIKE CANNABIS LOL" joke. And the part where he's "distracting" the wolves looks ropey and doesn't achieve anything. (They could have left out the whole wolf chase really since there's another at the end of the movie.)
Love Christopher Lee but Saruman is pointless in this movie.
The Goblin Town escape looks amazing and is really exciting but goes on to the point where I think "hang on, how come the dwarves are all completely unscathed and incredible fighers now while the goblins are dying by the hundreds?) Not really a big fan of the Goblin King either. ("That'll do it!")
Gollum stuff is perfect, best part of the movie by far.
Eagles should have talked and the way they were done just gives fuel to the tedious "why don't the eagles just fly them all the way!" bores.
Thorin's "I've never been so wrong!" speech is super cheesey.
Azog is still kind of just there but they needed a subplot to have enough material for three movies so I don't know what the solution would be (well, I do, it's making it two movies instead but it's too late for that.) At least his part in the next movie looks exciting (if he's going to attack the dwarves while they're in barrels.)

SO YEAH I THINK I'M ENTITLED to nitpick since I'm such a big Tolkien fan okay I do it out of AFFECTION like when Tomtrek criticies Doctor Who or Fuddlemiff criticises the Tomorrow When The War Began franchise I do like the movie it's much better than something like SAY Star Trek Into Darkness but it is flawed and you'll just have to deal with that baby (I don't know who I'm talking to.)

Unlike my re-review, here's something that will get replies!
