True Detective

CROSSOVER MF-TV-SHOW NEWS:

Joel McHale and Jim Rash will be doing a sendup of True Detective on tonight's new episode of The Soup.

Nick Pizzalotto is going to mad at that guy for giving away all the secrets.

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER :rwmad:

No surprises about the ending, but it was really great to see Marty and Rust become friends at the end. Poor Rust!

It wasn't at all what I expected, but it was really tense and engrossing. I'm glad they both made it out alive even if they won't be in the second season. I can't wait to watch it all again and see what clues I missed. Well done to all involved. :)

I'm glad there wasn't a "MAGGIE WAS THE YELLOW KING ALL ALONG" twist or anything. The best part of the finally was when Marty called Rust "my friend."

I AGREE! I am really happy there wasn't a stupid twist ending. The relationship between Rust and Marty all through the series was the best thing about this show. The grudging respect Marty had for Rust, and the way that even though Marty isn't as smart as Rust he was still a good partner and jumped into the most dangerous shit, and earned Rust's respect in return. I loved that last car ride they had together where they talked about the past and it seemed they both accepted responsibility for their bad behavior.

Oh, I just read this interview http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/03/10/t...gs-season-2-and-the-future-of-cohle-and-hart/ it's a good interview, also this is what he said about season 2

What’s the update on season two?

I am still fleshing it out. The basic idea: Hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the U.S. transportation system. I was well on my way in the writing but there’s been a lot noise and work around the end of the first season that got in the way.

Angela Lansbury should be the lead in a "what happens when Jessica Fletcher gets old and stops caring" type role.

That was a really good interview (other than the proof reading). I didn't know he'd written a book, so that'll be going on the reading list I'm sure.

I hadn't thought about it until reading that, but the amount of time devoted to showing Rust and Marty's reaction to events at the end really helped to make it satisfying and leave me content with not seeing those characters again or wanting them to have anymore crazy adventures. Often in crime dramas you see the characters after the killer has been caught, but they're just in reboot button mode, acting completely unphased and unchanged by events.

Well for someone behind the camera.

Have you guys seen all the videos he and the director have done for each episode? They're so insightful.

Yeah, I've been watching the Touch of Darkness videos. They were really good.

everyone I know is loving this and I havent seen ONE ep yet! when the hell is it ON?!?!?! I can't find it anywhere.
